IntroductionThe Master of Business Administration degree programs at Xavier University develop advanced business and personal skills in a manner that accommodates the demanding schedules and needs of today’s working professionals.

The Xavier MBA is delivered in five formats: evenings, weekends, full-time, executive and off-site. Most students in the evening program attend part time and complete their degree in two to three years. Weekend MBA students finish in two years. The Executive MBA is for upper-level management professionals only and finishes in 19 months. Off-site students follow a two-year accelerated, cohort structure.

Xavier’s part-time MBA program was ranked 14th best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for 2010. The Princeton Review includes the Williams College of Business among “The Best Business Schools” for 2010 and 2011. The Xavier MBA program is accredited by AACSB—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

WORKING PROFESSIONAL EVENING MBA

The Evening MBA program is an educational experience hallmarked by academic rigor in a curriculum interwoven with current business issues and research, beyond-the-classroom professor interaction, unparalleled student services and a Jesuit tradition of excellence in education spanning 450 years.

Designed to maximize the time and commitment of the working professional or full-time student, the Evening MBA offers convenience and responsiveness to the scheduling and educational needs of students. Courses, taught by full professors active in the business community and scholarship, are offered for two or three credit hours. Three-credit-hour courses meet for 16 weeks, while two-credit-hour courses meet for half the academic term, allowing students maximum flexibility in scheduling. An accelerated full-course schedule runs in the summer term as well.

The number of credit hours required to complete the program varies from a minimum of 36 hours to a maximum of 59 hours, depending on the number of foundation skills courses needed and the concentration chosen.

WEEKEND MBA

Designed for students unable to take classes during the week, the Weekend MBA program offers the excellence of the MBA curriculum with the opportunity to earn the 36 hours of the core curriculum (600-level courses only) by taking courses on Saturdays for six consecutive semesters.

Students in this program receive an MBA degree in two years. Admission to the weekend program is limited, with approximately 30 students chosen for admission each fall. Students participate in a cohort structure and attend classes only once a week. The weekend program requires that all foundation skills courses (500-level) are completed before admission. Those needing foundation skills courses may take them as part of the Evening MBA program or can have them waived by undergraduate academic credit or examination.

The Weekend MBA program starts once each year in the fall semester. Saturday morning and afternoon classes are offered. Students follow an established curriculum of 12 courses offered sequentially.

MOMENTUM MBA

This one-year, full-time program takes students directly from undergraduate studies to an MBA. The Momentum MBA starts six times a year. Students can begin taking classes in January, March, May, July, August and October. Courses take place Monday through Thursday, staring at 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays in the morning and afternoon. Select MBA classes also are offered online.

OFF-SITE MBA: DEERFIELD, WEST CHESTER AND NORTHERN KENTUCKY

This corhort program, offered off site from Xavier’s main campus, takes place in Deerfield Township and West Chester, Ohio, and Fort Mitchell, Ky. The program delivers Xavier’s comprehensive MBA curriculum in an accelerated format with completion possible in 24 months. Classes begin once a year—in January at Deerfield and in July at West Chester and Northern Kentucky. Classes are held twice a week in the evening. The application deadline is Dec. 15 for Deerfield and June 1 for West Chester and Northern Kentucky. For more information, call the program coordinator at 513-745-3412 or email [email protected].

EXECUTIVE MBA

Xavier’s Executive MBA program is an innovative alternative in the world of MBA programs. It is designed for the seasoned upper-management professional and is delivered in a one-day, all-day format for 19 months. Classes alternate between Friday and Saturday each week and feature an accelerated, cohort structure. The Executive MBA program begins once each fall and includes a 10-day international study trip. Admission to this program is separate from the weekend and evening programs. Please contact the Executive MBA program coordinator at 513-745-3412 or [email protected] for additional information.

Through the Jesuit MBA network, the receiving university agrees to accept the majority of comparable coursework completed at the original institution with a grade of “B” or better.

The degree is awarded by the university where more than half the core program is completed.

From all other institutions, a maximum of six hours of transfer credit for upper-level and elective courses may be accepted toward the MBA degree. All transferred coursework must be approved by the MBA office and be a grade of “B” or better.

INDIVIDUALIZED ADVISING

All beginning MBA students meet with an academic advisor to discuss starting at Xavier, registering for classes, long-term planning, degree financing, parking, books and the multitude of campus resources available. To make an appointment, call 513-745-3525 or email [email protected].

ORIENTATION

All MBA students are invited to an MBA orientation, which takes place before the start of the fall and spring semesters. These orientations are held after work hours and cover the essentials of being an MBA student while providing the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and fellow students.

WOMEN’S MBA ASSOCIATION

Aimed at “inspiring, empowering and uniting,” the Xavier Women’s MBA Association offers members of all genders networking opportunities with professionals committed to the advancement of women in business.

FOUNDATION SKILLS COURSES WAIVER

Foundation skills courses may be waived if you have completed similar courses with a grade of “B” or better within the last five years at an accredited undergraduate institution. Undergraduate catalog course descriptions and/or course syllabi may be requested in support of waiver consideration. Also, each foundation skills course may be waived by successfully completing a waiver exam. The exam can only be taken once for any course. Contact the Office of the MBA Program for scheduling details.

PROGRAM COMPLETION

Students have six years to complete the entire MBA program. If all coursework is not completed within this time frame, you may be asked to re-apply and be subject to revisions of your original program requirements.

Students must take all courses designated as part of their program at the time of admission. Prerequisites must be checked before registration. Foundation-level courses must be completed before upper-level core courses are taken. A student on provisional or conditional admission must meet the requirements of admission before being fully admitted into the MBA program. If the student does not meet these requirements, the student faces academic action such as retaking the course, academic warning and/or dismissal.

“The impact of my trip to China as part of the Xavier MBA International Study Trip program was life changing and by far, the best part of my formal education. The trip was well orchestrated with the perfect mix of historic, cultural, business and entertainment experiences—all of which provided an amazingly rich insight into real-life in China that far surpassed my expectations. Everyone should have an opportunity to experience and learn from other cultures and the international study program is well suited to provide these experiences and more.”
