Q1.

In the 1880s, Harvey Henderson Wilcox of Kansas and his wife Daeida moved to Los Angeles from

Topeka and bought 160 acres of land in the countryside to the west of the city at the foothills and the Cahuenga Pass. On a train trip to the east, Daeida met a woman who spoke of her country home in Ohio named after a Dutch settlement. She liked the sound of it and upon returning to Southern California, bestowed the name to the family ranch.

What was it called?

Q2.

X is a conception of the afterlife that evolved over time and was maintained by certain Greek religious and philosophical sects, and cults. Initially separate from the realm of Hades, admission was initially reserved for mortals related to the gods and other heroes. Later, it expanded to include those chosen by the gods, the righteous, and the heroic, where they would remain after death, to live a blessed and happy life. Also the name of a 2013 hollywood movie.

Q4.• On June 23, 1916, about halfway into one of the bloodiest

battles in World War I, The Battle of Verdun, French General Robert Nivelle issued an order to his tired and tattered troops, forced to stand against the impending German forces. The order was simple:

• ‘Vous ne les laisserez pas passer, mes camarades’

• Translated into english, it becomes a phrase, occasionally used in memes, whose usage in Pop culture has reached epic proportions, mainly because of a fantasy movie in which it was used by one of the main characters.

• Which phrase ?

• It was created as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, an earlier cartoon character created by the Disney studio for Charles Mintz of Universal Studios. His body was designed out of circles in order to make the character simple to animate, which is most noticeable in his ears. This made him easily recognizable to audiences and made his ears an unofficial personal trademark.

• In 1978, it became the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Breakout, a discrete logic (non-microprocessor) game, was designed by Nolan Bushnell, Y, and Steve Bristow, all three who were involved with Atari subsidiary Kee Games.

They had an idea to turn Pong into a single player game, where the player would use a ball to deplete a wall of bricks without missing the ball on its rebound. Bushnell was certain the game would be popular, and the two partnered to produce a concept. Al Alcorn was assigned as the project manager, and began development with Cyan Engineering in 1975. The same year, Alcorn assigned X to design a prototype. X was offered US$750, with a bonus for every chip fewer than 50. X promised to complete a prototype within four days.

X and Y were partners and worked for HP. X wasn’t much knowledgeable about chips but Y was and it was his brilliance Atari wanted to employ.

However X and Y are not famous as Game Developers.

Most of the game is set in a remote desert area of New Mexico in the Black Mesa Research Facility, a fictional complex that bears many similarities to both the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Area 51, at some point between the 2000s. The game's protagonist is the theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman, an MIT graduate who holds a Ph.D. Freeman becomes one of the survivors of an experiment at Black Mesa that goes horribly wrong, when an unexpected "resonance cascade"—a fictitious phenomenon —rips dimensional seams, devastating the facility. Aliens from another dimension known as Xen subsequently enter the facility through these dimensional seams (an event known as the "Black Mesa incident").

The Knights of Walpurgis were founded around one thousand years ago to protect witches and wizards from persecution. However, after a while Wizarding society managed to convince everyone that magic does not exist, and the services of the Knights were no longer required.

The Etymology of the names comes from a German festival.

“Walpurgis Night (in German folklore) the night of April 30 (May Day's eve), when witches meet on the Brocken mountain and hold revels with the Devil...”

This origin is not coincidental and is somewhat of a obscure connection to the ideology of the Knights to ideology of Hitler’s Germany. The knights were defeated in 1945(Second vague connection to Hitler’s defeat) and went into hiding when their leader was defeated.

How do we better know them?

In 2003, at the age of eleven, Evanna had been admitted to the hospital, where she spent two years in treatment for anorexia. She often wrote to Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling, of whom she was a fan and whom she considered a counselor, and got a reply in which Rowling reminded her that anorexia was "destructive, not creative“. Still, she feared that she would miss the release of the fifth Harry Potter book, but the hospital released her for the morning of the book release, and it was arranged for her to receive a copy of the book signed by J.K. Rowling herself.

“The only actor or actress who has ever, ever intruded while writing was Evanna Lynch, who is absolutely perfect as X. And I must admit I have heard her voice in my head when I wrote the book. I love Evanna. She's fantastic. She was perfectly cast, she was… she won't mind me saying this, she is completely cool with this, she is X! She is very X-esque, in personality, and is just spot on for me”

Before clinching the role, Evanna wrote to J.K. Rowling telling her that she wanted to be X but she came from a sleepy place called Termonfeckin where nothing ever happened. Rowling wrote back encouraging her and told her not to be too disheartened that she herself came from a very sleepy place.

Indian Mythology, specifically the Mahabharata has had instances of many modern technologies. One such is the instance of Test-Tube babies.

X was not gestated in a womb, but outside the human body in a vessel(droon)

Bharadwaja went with his companion to the Ganga to perform his ablution. There he beheld a beautiful apsara Ghritachi who had come to bathe. The sage was overcome by desire, causing him to produce reproductive fluid. It was captured in a vessel and X sprung from this fluid thus preserved. In other words he was born without a womb.

One of these stations is a high security prison on Io, a moon of Jupiter. Here, the twelve most dangerous criminals are held up in suspended animation. Each one of them is an expert in their field. When a meteorite strike hits the base, destroying its security system, these criminals break free and escape. The Earth Government assigns its top law enforcer, X, the mission to arrest these fugitives. • One theory of collapse of the main sanctum of this temple is given here-

“It is described that there was a magnetic load stone on the top of the temple and due to its magnetic effects, mariner’s compasses fitted in ships used to show wrong directions, it was a troubling task for the sailors to drive their vessels in right direction.

To make shipping safe, the Muslim voyagers took away the load stone from the temple which was working as the central stone keeping all the stones of the temple wall in a balance. Due to its displacement the temple walls lost their balance and fell down in course of time.”

• Other theories of collapse include Earthquake, thunderstrike, hasty completion of the temple, a weak foundation and mythical curses.

• He never appears to grow old or age at all in the historical depictions despite passing of several decades, but there are grounds for a debate whether this indicates that he has no material body, since battles and other descriptions show clear indications that he seems to be subject to the limitations of nature.

•  Megasthenes described an Indian tribe called Sourasenoi, who especially worshipped Herakles in their land, and this land had two cities, Methora and Kleisobora, and a navigable river, the Jobares. As was common in the ancient period, the Greeks sometimes described foreign gods in terms of their own divinities, and there is a little doubt that the Sourasenoi refers to the Shurasenas, a branch of the Yadu dynasty

This story is among the very few that combines three mythologies together. The Egyptian Mythology, Norse Mythology and Indian Mythology. Although this combination is a very small part of the story, rather its just the origin story of a major character, it shows the level of power of the story’s main antagonist.

The setting is distinctly futuristic and technological, instances of mythology and supernatural events do occur. Mythologies, like Valhalla, and even supernatural forces, such as demonic enemies, make regular appearances, yet do not seem to stand out amongst the technologically advanced inhabitants
