Flexiform was awarded the contract to supply furniture for the new Wyre Forest District Council headquarters in early 2012. The Council was scheduled to move into the new building in the summer of 2012, so It was essential that all furniture was available in time for the Council’s occupation.

Working with Broadway Malyan architects, Flexiform was required to submit a selection of fur-niture through tender for a number of rooms, con-sisting of open plan offices, postal rooms, resource areas, a library, café area, training rooms, and quiet rooms. The proposed furniture needed to have a clean, minimalist aesthetic to match the colour and design of carpets and walls.

Flexiform selected Pico desking for Wyre Forest District Council, with a range of rectangular tops, and double wave tops for larger runs. The slimline design was selected in a white frame with a warm oak top. Before installation, Flexiform provided a space planning and survey analyst service to provide suitable storage options and layouts for each department’s needs. This included everything from the style, dimensions to all of the necessary compatible components of each storage system.

Flexiform also developed a bespoke cutting table with storage underneath for Wyre Forest District Council, using our in house design and engineering team. Throughout the project, our expert project manager guided Wyre Forest District Council through the various options available, and ensured the project came in on time and to budget.

Wyre Forest District Council had a detailed specification for the products installed within the building. This included the recyclable and recycled content information of each product - for example, all task chairs had to have a minimum of 95% recyclability.

Other specifications included a flexible benching design, where different configurations shared a minimum of 75% of the same components. This requirement was met by Flexiform’s Pico range, which shares the same core components to create single, side-to-side, back-to-back and 120-degree desks.

All Pico desking can be reduced and extended in size. The legs simply detach to add an extension desk with a central cable tower, and are then reattached. Other easy additions include height- adjustment kits, which can be retro fitted at any time.

LockersWyre Forest District Council selected mild steel personal lockers with post slots, ventilation, and four-digit combination locks in an all-white carcass.

PedestalsEach desk was supplied with an all-white, three-drawer pedestal. The top drawer locks for security, while one drawer is deep to can hold suspended files.

Side TamboursOne of Flexiform’s most popular products, side tambours were supplied to Wyre Forest Council in a white carcass with white plastic shutters, and were finished with a MFC top.

Double Wave DeskingWyre Forest Council chose back-to-back double wave desking with white steel legs, and an oak MFC top which matched storage in other parts of the office. Desking was supplied with black 370mm0high screens with no tool rail, and matching black chairs.

Meeting Tables and SeatingA wide variety of breakout furniture is available from Flexiform’s Additions range, as well as from our extensive hand-picked suppliers. This was paired with meeting seating.

Mobile Meeting TablesTables were supplied on castors, with polished silver legs. A wide variety of portable meeting tables are available, with flip-top tables and folding leg as an alternative.
