I create modern, wearable pieces that hint at a bygone age

when ladies wore hats, when we threw much less away and when

women's skills with a needle and thread sustained comfort

and beauty in the home.

A b o u t

I'm Paula Perrins and I live and work in Bingley, a small but perfectly

formed town in the beautiful Aire Valley. This area is steeped in a rich

history of textiles and industry with Sir Titus Salt's model village

and World Heritage Site Saltaire at its heart.

My work with Wychbury together with my lifestyle and influences over the

last two years have inspired a unique, personal collection of work that I

now offer to both retail and trade customers.

All of my pieces are individually designed and handmade by me in my home

workshop. My work is inspired by my love of fabrics and sewing and my

fascination with historical domesticity. I love to work with silk

flowers, vintage buttons, lace trims and all forms of haberdashery to

make my collections of wearable pincushions and sewing accessories, neat

jewellery based on fabric covered buttons and elegant floral accessories

including Remembrance Poppies and bridal pieces, all with the nostalgic,

romantic feel of days gone by.

WEARABLE PINCUSHION COLLECTION

Stylish and practical, our vintage-inspired, wearable pincushions are each

created by hand using beautiful fabric prints, cotton lace trims and vintage

mother of pearl buttons. Unique, eye-catching pieces with a nostalgic twist,

if you are looking for something a little different, our pincushions are the

perfect treat for stitchers and non-stitchers alike.

Look stylish while you're sewing and keep your pins handy while you do it! All

pincushions feature ‘antique bronze’ settings and are all supplied with

decorative pins and a gift box. Many fabric designs are available.

COVERED BUTTON JEWELLERY & ACCESSORY COLLECTION

Inspired by the sewing box, a jewellery range to compliment my wearable

pincushions made from fabric covered buttons. Using up the tiniest scraps of

my favourite fabrics, vintage shell buttons and antique bronze findings, I

have designed earrings, pendants and necklaces in separates and matching

sets. Matching hair clips are also available.

FABRIC FLORAL ACCESSORIES

Inspired by the collection of Victorian Millinery at Cliffe Castle Museum in

Keighley and based on real species of flowers, the versatility and charm of

these hand-stitched flowers makes the range a popular choice for weddings.

Corsages and hair accessories can be made to order in a myriad of colour

combinations for brides, bridesmaids and guests as well as making a statement

with everyday outfits.

Available in colours to suit the season, I use the carefully selected petals

of artificial flowers to create poppies, pansies and snowdrops. Embellished

with machine and hand stitching, metallic thread and beads. Wired velvet

leaves in lush green adorn many of the pieces for a sumptuous, vintage feel.

A range of deep red velvet poppy accessories are available throughout the

year with a donation being made by Wychbury to The Royal British Legion Poppy

OUR BRAND, CREATED BY HAND

At Wychbury we love to enhance our unique brand with packaging we make by

hand. I am an avid collector of vintage printing sets and stamps,

particularly the British toy launched in the 1950s, The John Bull Printing

Outfit. Wychbury’s brand is often created using the lettering from these

sets.

The backing cards for earrings, pendants and hair accessories are distressed

with tea and heat before being hand stamped with lettering and ornate corner

designs. The edges of the cards are torn and singed for an antique look.

My wearable pincushion and fabric button sets are packaged in natural card

boxes, again printed with vintage stamps. Wychbury swing tags get the heat

and stamp treatment too. The latest Wychbury Designs branding is a

continuation of this theme with a more Victorian edge.
