What is Mines Action Canada?
• MAC is Canada’s campaign against landmines and cluster bombs.
• We are a network of nearly 30 Canadian organizations.
• MAC is also the Canadian partner of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) and the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC).
What do we believe in?
We believe the human-made disaster caused by these weapons is solvable in our lifetime.
MAC works to alleviate the impact of landmines and cluster bombs on the rights, dignity and well-
being of civilians.

What we do
Since 1996, MAC has worked to fulfil its vision through the following actions: – Engaging the Canadian public;– Building our partners’ capacity domestically and internationally;– Researching and monitoring the performance and compliance
levels of humanitarian laws and treaties;– Developing and disseminating innovative resources to inspire
action.

Engaging Youth
MAC is also a recognized global leader in building the capacity of youth to become dynamic advocates for social justice. Presently, MAC is leading four youth programs:

The People's Treaty The People’s Treaty was designed as a way for Canadian citizens to show their support and personal commitment to the landmine ban.
In May 2008, MAC and the CMC re-launched the People’s Treaty in support of a new treaty banning cluster bombs.
There are two ways to sign – as an organization or as an individual. Visit our website to add your name. Every signature counts!

How can you make history happen?
Contribute to the In Our Lifetime Legacy Project -
a global youth fundraising campaign. In 2011, youth leaders and partners are raising funds in support of young survivors in
Cambodia.You can support the Project by purchasing a t-shirt, or organizing a
local fundraising event.More information is available at www.minesactioncanda.org

How can you make history happen?Organize a Bomb Appetit! dinner
This is a fun way to host your friends and raise funds to support MAC at the same time. Whether hosted in your own home, a local restaurant, a community center or outside – your dinner can be as structured or unstructured as you desire!
You can choose to “pass the hat” for donations or charge each guest a set fee.
