Biography• He was The eldest of six children of the second

marriage of his father George Washington. He a close relationship with his nephew and Bushrod Washington, son of the younger brother of George.

• His education was elementary, tutors and possibly private schools was sent to the Shenandoah Valley began his military career the following year.

• Washington led a military group.• The Continental Congress appointed Washington

Commander in Chief of the Continental Army in 1775.

The President, with deep regret, announces to the army, the death of its beloved Chief, Gen. George Washington. Sharing in the grief, which every heart must feel for so heavy and afflicting a public loss, and desirous to express his high sense of the vast debt of gratitude which is due to the virtues, talents and ever memorable services of the illustrious deceased, he directs that funeral honors be paid to him at all the military stations, and that the officers of the army and of the several corps of volunteers, wear crape on the left arm, by way of mourning, for six months. Major-General Hamilton will give the necessary orders for carrying into effect the foregoing directions.

Given at the War-Office of the United States in Philadelphia, this nineteenth day of December

A.D. 1799, and in the 24th year of the Independence of the said States.

Articles of Confederation• During his presidency, he brought The Articles of

Confederation, formally the Articles of Confederation and perpetual Union, was a document signed amongst the 13 original colonies that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution, and an approved version was sent to the states for ratification in late 1777.

Stamp Act• The Stamp Act 1765 was an act of the Parliament of

Great Britain that imposed a direct tax on the colonies of British America and required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper produced in London, carrying an embossed revenue stamp .These printed materials were legal documents, magazines, playing cards, newspapers and many other types of paper used throughout the colonies.
