History of HE at the College

• Early 1990s HNC and HNDs. Small number of students indirectly funded through the University of North London and directly funded from FEFC.

• End of 1990s. Successful bids for a number of HNC/D programmes directly funded from HEFCE. FEFC funding transferred to HEFCE.

• 1999. Funding moved to indirect funding through the University of North London and London Guildhall University. Supported by City University London.

• 2001. Foundation Degree Pilot awarded by City University London, supported by Queen Mary, University of London.

• Increase in the number of FDs through successful ASN bids and use of HNC/D numbers for FDs.

• PGCEs funded through, and awarded by, the Institute of Education, University of London

• 2010/11. Three HNC/D programmes. Part time. and an OU FD.

HE Strategy

• Develop portfolio of courses in partnership with existing partners. Enter the present bidding round for both FDs and HNDs.

• Develop staff to enable students to continue to get the best possible educational experience.

• Develop governance of HE to enable expansion and FDAP. Seconded post from University College London to support this.

• Work with partner universities and other FE college’s to encourage students to complete NSS and linked to this KIS.

• Financial viability. • Keep a close interest in developments at regional and national

level.
