Ahoy Everyone! What a great start for 2019! The Past Commodores Ball was a great success. Congratulations to Samantha Fox for Yachtswoman of the Year, Shannon and Denise Davis for Spark Plug Awards, Steve Brodsky, Dan Dobbs and Marilyn Sperling for 110% Awards and many others that help make this club a success. A big thanks to Denise Davis and her decorating crew for the wonderful decorations- I was very moved and in awe. February is proving to be another busy month. The Chili cook off was so much fun. Thank you Sue McDaniel for putting on this event and congratulations to Steve Biles for taking first place. Another one to put on the books for next year. As I write this, the crab feed is just around the corner with 150 people attending. I am sure this will be a success also.

On the Horizon for March: March 16th Saint Patrick's Day (see flyer in Yeoman). March 20th Birthday Night (see flyer in Yeoman). As most of you know Kandi fell and broke her hip, she is on the mend and will be back soon. She is overwhelmed with all the calls, cards, flowers and balloons. She thanks everyone and sends her love. A big thanks to our Vice Commodore Joe Miyamoto and bar staff Sharkey, Kat and Mark for stepping up to the plate, covering Kandi's shifts as she gets better. Our Galley is looking top notch. We wish Kandi Sweeney all the best in her recovery from hip surgery and look forward to her return in April. Many thanks to Shelly Hawkins, Kat Parette and Mark Pavusko for stepping up to the plate and keeping the bar operating as we address the many challenges that lie ahead.

January bar sales were up significantly from December with member and non-member rentals, the Commodore's Ball and the Caliente Isle Yacht Club cruise-in providing the highest gross sales. The top events for the bar in February were the Superbowl party, chili cook-off, member and non-member rentals and the crab feed.

The Superbowl party provided an endless array of dishes provided by the members. If you weren't there you missed out on pork carnitas, stuffed mushrooms, chicken pot pie, sausage and vegetables, and swedish meatballs.

The chili cook-off hosted by Sue McDaniel provided a good sample of different flavors of chili. Congratulations to Steve Biles for the winning recipe. Margo provided an assortment of treats at the desert table.

Louie Zandonella always provides a great marinated and non-marinated crab feed. Louie and his crew cooked up some 500 pounds of crab for the members and their guests to enjoy. Nobody went home hungry from the all-you-can-eat crab feed. Without mentioning any names, I think some records may have been broken for the most crab consumed by an individual at a crab feed!

Looking forward is Saint Patrick's Day and the Dan O'Connor memorial corn beef and cabbage dinner prepared by "Ole Foggie." Look for more fabulous creations by the decorating committee for both the crab feed and corn beef and cabbage dinner.

Please remember your volunteer bartenders who work hard for their tips. A lot of

their work occurs outside regular bar hours in order to provide your favorite beverage

and sometimes great food as an added bonus.

Sympathy cards were sent to Jay Lightener, Ruben Rosalez and the Dobbs, as each have lost family members. Get well cards were sent to Debbie Wagner, who had foot surgery, Shannon Davis, who will soon undergo stem cell transplant, Linda Merletti, who has

been in the hospital, and Kandi Sweeney, who broke her hip.

January is over and it was the most wonderful month for me. The Commodores Ball on the 19th was a spectacular event; the

decorations, the food, entertainment, bar keeps, and not forgetting all of you that made it so. I was presented with the prestigious Yachtsman of the Year award by Commodore Jan Cutaia Iaconis. I cannot explain the emotions that I felt because I was so overwhelmed and it was unexpected. Jan thank you so much, this means so much to me. Love you! On the 26th, Caliente YC joined us for their Change of Watch . Mark Pavulsko and his super crew of cooks served a fabulous meal. I must thank Shannon Davis and his crew for setting the tables, Denise Davis and her crew for her beautiful decorations, and of course as ever, our bar keeps. Charles Watergate DJ kept them dancing until the early hours. They enjoyed our club so much that they are booking for next year for a number of events! I have added 4 extra cruise ins for the year: March 15th -16th SOLANO New April 12th -14th Bay Liners May17th -19th Disco Bay May 25th- FLOATING REALTY New June 8th -10th Solano June 21st -23rd Marin June 29th -July 6th Diablo July 12th- Vallejo July 19th- Vallejo August 9th -11th Delta Marina August 16th -19th CLASSIC YACHT ASSOCIATION. New September 24th - SACRAMENTO New October 24th - Vallejo November 8th-10th Bridge Marina Now on to February and the Chili Cook off. Bridge Marina joined us with 9 fun people. They loved the Chili and all of us and so they should as we love having them here! Don’t forget they will be visiting again in November!

We had a new member sign up in February and I am anxious to introduce him at the March General meeting. The Membership and Marketing committee had a meeting at the end of January. This meeting was pri-marily to develop an updated flyer to use as a market-ing tool. I am hopeful that we will be able to present this in March. I'd like to bring to your attention our 90-day mem-bers. They can be identified by wearing a "Berther" badge. Should you see these members please acquaint yourself and show them our PYC hospitality in hopes they will decide to join as full members. We have a lot of fun activities coming up. Invite your friends to come and visit---they might just like us enough to join our club. A reminder that 2019 membership dues are now due-- thank you to the 65 to 70% of our members that have paid.

Thank you to the crew provided by Dave Fogleman for replacing deteriorated siding panels on our

accessible entry ramp with new plywood. The railings had to be removed to replace the panels. The new plywood was not painted in February due to the continuous wet weather. Building and Grounds Committee Chair Steve Brodsky with committee member John Birdsell installed additional bolts to secure the railing for the entry ramp. Galley Committee Chair Shirley Acosta has continued to clean and organize the galley. The galley looks great! Thank you, Shirley. Safety Committee Chair Steve Brodsky is organizing safety programs for later this year. More information to follow. Thank you to Dan Dobbs, John Birdsell and Mark Pavusko for setting up and taking down tables and chairs for numerous events. We appreciate the help of all of the members that

volunteer to help keep our club looking and running its

best by busing your tables, helping in the galley, setting

up for events, cleaning up after events, taking trash to

the dumpster, etc. This is a great club because we have

great members like you.

Hello Guys and Dolls, We have our March cruise-out booked at Bridge YC for the weekend of 3/22 - 3/24. We will start our cruise up river at 10 am on Friday morning. I will have more details to follow. If you can go, please let me know as soon as you can so that I can get Bridge the number of boats that will be coming in. Please also send me your boat name and length. We have a set date for our Mildred Is. raft-out of July 19 - 21. Several of us are already planning on going up on Thursday the 18th so as to get the party started early. So far: Friday night - Dinner will be at the club. Menu to follow. Saturday night - BBQ on the docks. Bring your own meat and a side.
