    Rome

Rome is located in middle Italy on 7 hills, it benefices of an excellent position in the Mediterranean Area. It

was built along the River Tevere. You can reach the city by car driving on A1, A2, A12 and A24 Motorways.

You can reach Rome also by train. Roma Termini is the main railways staion and one of the largest train

station in Europe. Moreover it is the main hub for the public transport service in Rome. By plane you wouldland probably at Fiumicino airport, which is Romes main airport. This one is well connected to the city

centre by train. Ciampino Airport is well known. Its a smaller airport dealing with charter flights and budget

airlines. The traffic in Rome is chaotic, parking is really difficult and central areas may be temporarily

closed. So the cheapest way to get around the city is by using buses, hop-on-hop-off buses and by using the

2 underground lines which run under earth. The lines are just two because there are too many ruins. Rome

has a pleasant spring and a pleasant autumn to offer his visitors, winters are mild and summers are hot.

The influence of the glorious history of theEternal Citymakes this area rich in tourist attractions and

destinations. Ancient traces of Roman roads, aqueducts and imperial residences are fascinating for fans of

archaeology: those who want to retrace the trail of the Etruscans and Romans are offered one of the areas

in the world most dense with historical remnants and sites. Rome is the Capital of Italy, Caput Mundi, the

navel of the world, all roads lead to it... theFori Imperialiwith theColosseum, symbol of Rome, in the

background, as well as the Arch of Constantine, just one more of the city's many well-known marvels.

The Circus Maximus, the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, the Bocca della Verit (Mouth of Truth), and the

Renaissance and Baroque palazzi are other elements that contribute to Rome's singularity in the

world. Then, one arrives at the Pantheon, housing the tomb of the famous Raffaello Finally, theVatican

City, the smallest country in the world and its magnificent Saint Peter's Basilica, embraced by Bernini's

famous colonnade, are marvelous beauties that everyone visiting Rome should experience at least

once. Ever since its mythical foundation by Romulusin 753 Bc, history has passed through Rome, leaving

evidence from all ages and even now, as excavations go on, there are always new discoveries. The historic

center ofRomeand the Holy See (including the Vatican and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls) make

up one of the 49 Italian sites inserted in UNESCOsWorld Heritage List.Numerous are Romes unforgettable

piazzas: Piazza Navona, with Berninis splendid Four Rivers Fountain; theSpanish Steps(Piazza di

Spagna) over which hovers the celebrated stairway; Piazza del Popoloand its characteristic twin

churches; Piazza Venezia, almost imposed upon by the Vittorio Emmanuele Monument (theAltare della

Patria, behind which lies the Campidoglio. Masterpieces: Santa Maria Maggiore, San Giovanni in Laterano

(St. John Lateran)and St. Pauls Outside the Walls. These monuments have exerted great influence over

the development of architecture and monumental artworks for much of the Christian world over the

centuries. The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (St. Mary Major)is one of the official major basilicas in

Rome, and is of enormous religious and artistic importance.. San Giovanni in Lateranowas actually Romes

first cathedral, where the Emperor Constantine allowed the establishment of the first Episcopal seat.

Rome's Colosseum,is one of the seven wonders of the world . The Flavian Amphitheatre, built by theEmperor Vespasian, was the venue for the games that took place in ancientRome.Very famous were

the gladiatorfights, usually performed slaves or prisoners of war, trained with the aim of ferociously and

bravely fighting in order to regain their freedom. Rome is full of good restaurants in attractive places, but

the best ones are located outside the city centre. Thetypical dishes of Lazio are the same as the

universally-known dishes of Roman cuisine: bucatini all'amatriciana, prepared using the famous guanciale

    (a type of bacon) cut into cubes;rigatoni allacarbonara; spaghetti with cheese and pepper (cacio e pepe);

andpenne allarrabbiata. Also, vegetable and legume soups prepared with beans, broad beans, chickpeas

and lentils are typical to the Roman countryside.Typical of the city are water fountains called nasoni and

fontanelle with drinking water. To remember are pre dinner drinks, served together with small starters. We

can say some events which take place in Rome, for instance Donna sotto le stelle an event wherecreations by the most famous fashion designers are shown. On the 2

films from up and coming global filmmakers which you can find at different venues throughout the city. If

you want to stay up all night going shopping, just wait for the Notte Bianca, when all shops ( or at least,

most of the shops), galleries, museums and cultural centers are open all night long.

    Naples

The Province of Naplesis a magical place where colors, flavors, culture and history are intertwined in a

charming mix of knowledge, joy and fun. The city is located in a splendid bay and the vast urban city is

divided into two districts. You can reach the city by car driving on the A1 and A3 Motorways. You can go to

Naples also by train ( in fact the city has 3 stations, but the main railway station is Napoli Centrale,

completed in 1960s and located in Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi) or by plane (Ugo Niutta, located at short

distance from the city centre, is Naples municipal airport and offers also shuttle buses, which connect the

airport to Napoli Centrale railway station to the city center as well. Due to the traffic, Naples offers his

visitors an efficient public transport. You can choose whether use ANM buses or the 2 underground lines

covering the whole town area. You can find also funicular railways and taxis, but they are really expensive!

The area is loomed over by Mt. Vesuviusand overlooks a marvelous bay, whose beauty has served

as driving inspiration for many an artist. Naples was controlled by Greeks, who called the city Neapolis (new city) and then invaded by Goths. The city was also conquered by the Germans and Spain, which

established the city as capital of the 2 Sicilies in 1734. In 1860 Naples it was conquered by Garibaldi and

annexed to the kingdom of Italy. Thesites of Pompeii and Herculaneumare of great archaeological value

and are famous worldwide for their astounding number of ruins. Naplesis a real treasure trove of art and

history, of indelible signs from past dominations, each of which has contributed to this city's

construction. Its center, in particular, encompasses a heritage so rich that it has been designated an

UNESCO World Heritage Site. The different but well-integrated architectural lines of Castel Nuovo, evoke

the double role of palace and fortress that this building played during the domination of the Anjou and

Aragon families. The churches in this city are countless. The Cathedral -erected upon pre-existing buildings

    - over time has undergone radical modifications to repair the damages caused by the earthquakes, especially on the outside. TheSanta Chiara Monastery -with its simple lines characteristic of the

Franciscan churches - conserves, besides the royal tombs, the Chiostro delle Clarisse, with rare adornments

entirely made with multi-colored majolica depicting the colors of the land. The Palazzo Reale di

Capodimonte, surrounded by a large park, hosts the Capodimonte Museum and National Galleries, an

incredible collection of masterpieces by Titian, Raphael, Correggio, Masaccio, Mantegna, Caravaggio and

the Neapolitan masters. Teatro San Carlo lies behind the Palace; a music and ballet temple, famed artists

the caliber of Gioacchino Rossini and Gaetano Donizetti have performed here. When thinking about

Neapolitan culinary traditions, the mind immediately travels to images of the famed and favorite Pizza

Margherita, a gastronomic marvel created to honor the Queen Margherita. Simple ingredients and the

local creativity have given birth to one of the most loved and imitated dishes in the world! It is made with

tomato, basil and mozzarella. Pizzeria Brandi is the oldest one where you can find a stone on which the

history of pizza is written and illustrated. Finally, for dessert, taste the sfogliatella, a crunchy pastry filled

with ricotta; somepastiera(the most popular cake); or a rum-filled bab. Espresso has its origin right here

in Naples, did you know it? Naples holds a great number of cultural events such as folk and religious

festivals. At Christmas a lot of nativity scenes are shown around the city. Very famous is also Neapolis Rock

Festival, it takes place in the middle of summer. The most famous festival is the Miracle of St. Gennaro ( the

bishop of Benevento). He was beheaded by Diocletian during the persecution of Christians and, according

to the legend, a woman collectes come blood in an ampoule and then the blood liquefies in Naples

    Cathedral.

    Venice

At the heart of this legendary Province is the Serenissimaor Most Serene Republic, with its characteristic

bridges spanning thecanalsnavigated by gondolas, its monuments, piazzas, narrow lanes and silent
