A LARGE crowd recentlygathered at Tenby Museum &Art Gallery to see an impres-sive new exhibition of worksby members of the Royal Wa-tercolour Society of Wales.
The ‘Art of Water’ exhibi-tion was officially opened byAndrea Kelland, Vice-Presi-dent of the Society. The open-ing provided the opportunitytonot only view andpurchaseworks of art but also the op-portunity to meet many of the artists in person.
Neil Westerman, HonoraryCurator of the museum wel-comed everyone to the open-ing and thanked Mark Lewis,Thelma Mortand Andrea Kel-land for the outstanding job
they had done in arrangingand hanging the works.
Andrea, in her opening re-marks thanked David James,the society’s secretary andexhibitions secretary forhelping to organise the exhi-bition. She explained that theexhibition came about short-ly after the society was giventhe royal nod by her majestyand gained Royal status. Atabout the same time the so-ciety was invited to exhibitwith the French watercolour
society in Paris. The societyrecently hosted a reciprocalexhibition with the ‘Soci-ete Francaise l’Aquarelle inSwansea.
Andrea mentioned that
“one of thegreat thingsaboutexhibitions like this is thediversity of work, all the dif-ferent approaches to paintingwith watercolours, the dif-ferent marks made by artistsandtheir useof themedium”.
In her concluding remarksAndrea said that the RoyalWatercolour Society of Walesare looking to build on theirrecent achievements and ex-pand their horizons by rais-ing their profile not only inWales but across the border
and internati onally.The exhibition at TenbyMuseum & Art Gallery runsuntil Sunday, June 28. Themuseum is open seven days aweek from 10am to 4.30pm.
A WOMAN who spent twoyearsin Nepal is raising mon-ey to help the region.
Two months after the firstearthquake in Nepal, there isstill an urgent need for aid ina country where poverty and
poor communications wereendemic even before the dis-aster.
St Dogmaels resident ZosiaKobylinska spent two yearsteaching in the mid-west of the country and made manyfriends in remote areas.
Her daughter, Tassia, a Lon-don-based documentary film-maker, has madeseveralfilmsabout the country and threeof these will be shown at theCoach House, St Dogmaels onSaturday June 27 at 7pm.
There will also be an exhibi-tion of photographs by Tassiaand Kathmandu-based BibiFunyal.
Entry is £5 which includes araffle ticket.
Several local businesses andindividuals have generously
provided prizes.All proceeds will go to the
Disaster Emergency Commit-tee.

PEMBROKESHIRE'SSpan Arts was recentlyawarded a small grantfrom the People’s Post-code Trust to buy equip-ment to help deliverarts projects in ruralareas of the county.
The money is being usedfor staging, lighting andsound equipment that willbe available to smallerorganisations on an af-fordable community hirescheme.
The aim is also to runarts activities such as mu-sic and theatre events, andworkshops, in small rural
venues that are either nottypically used for events,or in community hallsthat don’t have their ownequipment.
The equipment will sup-port Span Arts’ mission
of ‘Arts for Evreduce rural isbringing peopin social and aties.

THE UK’s ‘top’ Eagles tributeshow heads to the Torch nextweek.
Talon, now in their 18th yearand recognised by the Agents As-sociation of Great Britain as the‘Official UK No.1’ Eagles tributeshow, will be at the Milford Ha-ven theatre on June 26.
The set list includes all the clas-sic hits from the band’s timelessback catalogue including HotelCalifornia, Lyin’ Eyes, Take itEasy, Desperado, Take it to theLimit, Life in the Fast Lane andmany more.
World class musicianship andthe powerful four part vocal har-monies of Chris Lloyd (acousticguitar, piano, keyboards andlead vocals), Peter Anderson(electric and acoustic guitars,
piano, keyboard and lead vocals),Johnny Miller (bass guitar, pianoand lead vocals) and Tony Vegas(electric and slide guitars andlead vocals) have helped buildthe band’s reputation.
