WSIS Stocktaking• The WSIS Stocktaking Process was launched in October 2004. Its aim is to provide a register
of activities carried out by governments, international organizations, the private sector, civil society and other entities. To this end, in accordance with §120 of the Tunis Agenda for the Information Society adopted by the Summit, ITU has been maintaining the WSIS Stocktaking Database as a publicly accessible system providing information on ICT-related initiatives and projects with reference to the 11 WSIS Action Lines (Geneva Plan of Action). WSIS Stocktaking process provides a portal of best practices for stakeholders seeking updated information on the progress of implementation of WSIS outcomes (§28.e. Geneva Plan of Action).
• Web 2.0 Platform serves as a mechanism for sharing experiences on WSIS related activities among its 20000 stakeholders representing governments, the private sector, international organizations, civil society and others. As a result, it has become the biggest ICT for development (ICT4D) online platform.

Regional Reports for 4 years• The propose of regional reports is to serve as the
information document for ITU-D Regional Development Forums and Regional Preparatory Meeting
• The regional reports are based on the contributions to the WSIS Stocktaking exercise, collected since the 2010 World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-10).
• Every report is open for comments or additional inputs to be submitted through the online platform at www.wsis.org/stocktaking until the 1st December 2013. Submitted inputs on activities will be reflected in the global WSIS Stocktaking Report 2014
WSIS Project PrizesThis initiative is a part of WSIS Stocktaking Process.
It comes as an immediate response to the requests expressed by WSIS stakeholders to create a mechanism to evaluate and reward stakeholders for their efforts on the implementation of WSIS outcomes.

United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolution 2012/5 “Assessment of the progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society” reiterates the importance of sharing the best practices at the global level, and while recognizing excellence in the implementation of the projects and initiatives which further the WSIS goals, encourages all stakeholders to nominate their projects to the annual WSIS Project Prizes, as an integral part of the WSIS Stocktaking process, while noting the report on the WSIS Success Stories.
WSIS Project Prizes 2014The contest of WSIS Project Prizes 2014 was launched on 5th September 2013. It is a platform to• identify and showcase success stories and models that
could be easily replicated; • empower communities at the local level;• give a chance to all stakeholders working on WSIS to
participate in the contest,• and particularly recognize the efforts of stakeholders
for their added value to the society and commitment towards achieving WSIS goals.
