WS-VLAM Introduction presentation

Introduction

• This presentation contains information related to Semantic tools developed to support WS-VLAM

• It helps the reader understand the main features of each tools.

• NOTE: We are currently still working on the User’s and developer’s

Guide, they are not available at this time. The presentations do not replace the documentation it just give a quick introduction.

Do not hesitate to contact us for further information

Thanks for taking some of your time to read about the WS-VLAM work, any comments are more than welcome

WS-VLAM Introduction presentation

Needed background …

• To be able to follow the content of this presentation you will need to know about:

OWLS= OWL-S: Semantic Markup for Web Services.

• More detailed description of the presented work can be found in the section of documentation of the WS-VLAM home page

Objective of this presentation …

• Why you should look at this presentations You want to know how to use the semantic tools to created

a the description of workflow component in WS-VLAM , annotate it, and perform a semantic search for WS-VLAM services.

• This presentation will not describe the following topics: How to Compose a workflow:

o See the WS-VLAM composer presentation or the User’s Guide

How to create a workflow component o See the WS-VLAM developers presentation or Developer’s

guide

WS-VLAM e-Studio

• So far it is simple program, used to start the different tools developed in the VL-e project by the Virtual Laboratory and system integration group

UvA, Amsterdam June 2007 WS-VLAM Introduction presentation

WS-VLAM e-Studio: Current available tools

• Clamp: Connecting Language for

Module & Programs

• Composer: WS-VLAM workflow composer

• Saw: Semantic Annotation for

Workflows

• Hammer: Hybrid-bAsed Match-Maker

for e-Science Resource

• VBrowser: Virtual Browser

WS-VLAM Introduction presentation

WS-VLAM Clamp

• Helps create workflow components description

• It is a Graphical interface, which allows the workflow component developers to define:– Input & Output ports– Parameters

• The output of this tools is an XML file which can be used as input for the workflow composer

WS-VLAM Introduction presentation

WS-VLAM Saw

• Helps annotate workflow components based on OWL-S Ontology for services:

Profile: tells what the service does

Service Model: tells a client how to use the service

OWL-S Graphic:

• The output of this tools is an OWL-S file which can be used as input for the Hammer for the Semantic discovery of services

– OWL-S Source

WS-VLAM Hammer:

• Helps search for Services
