THE1 is a mystic and holy Templeof Silence, the Soul of the Universe,

where in the hush and stillness of Beingthe Divine Potency touches and corn-mingles with substance, and from thiscomnungling is brought forth that whichshall manifest in all worlds. In its veryheart is Silences the Silence of intensevibration, so rapid that all seems motion-less and at rest. This Silence is vibrantwith life, thrilling with the creativeforce of that which is to be. Here, inthe Womb of Creation, reigns supremethe embodiment of Divine Love, theBringer Forth of all manifestations incosmos, nature, man.

The earth too, has its Temple ofSilence, in whose sacred atmosphere sheperfects the mirades of that which shebrings forth. Man also must find his

But only when man's heart is turnedfrom evil, when his mind is free fromvile imaginings, when his lips are puri-fied from speaking iniquity, his earsclosed to tales of slander, his eyes turnedfrom the enticements of the senses andhis feet are shod with the everlastingunderstanding of the indwellinç of thechrist, only then can he don 'the glo-rious robe of His strength" and fullyenter the great creative Temple ofSilence.

But he must begin to knock at thedoor of this Temple at the very begin-ning of his conscious striving for self-mastery. For this Temple has manychambers, in each of which the Aspirantwill find help, encouraeinent andstrength to push on until the innerShrine is reached.

Only in the Silence that is peace canwe find our Real Self, the source of allour strength and power, "the Masterwhom thou feelest but whom thou hastnot seen." Therefore, must we con-

sciously enter the Temple of Silence anddo homage to the Lord of Life, "if ofSelf thou would'st be the knower."

There is no problem that cannot besolved, no question that cannot be an-swered if we truly enter this Temple ofSilence and ask for guidance. For here,before the altar of this inner Temple,the All-Father will send His Light di-red into the heart of every true wor-shipper at this inner shrine.

Only within this Temple of Silence canthe Within receive, grasp and under-stand the wireless message from theFather-Mother. Thus does the God-within transmit the message to the outerconsciousness; for the personal God-within is the intermediary or anibassa-dor between the impersonal, omnipotentGodhead and its earthly embodiment,the human personality.

The spiritual atmosphere of the crea-jive God-consciousness, the Real Self ofthe Universe, of nature and of man, maybe likened to the air we breathe. Theair belongs to all alike, but is ours onlyto the extent that we take of it fromthe universal supply.

All men breathe and the air supportstheir animal life, but only as man learnsthe laws of breath and consciously usesthem does it become an important fac-

tor in his higher life, as well as In amore perfect physical life.

So is it with the a11-ervading DivineEssence. It becomes mdividuahzcd inus only as we understand its laws andconsciously breathe it into our lives. Andbecause it is a Divine Principle it con-tains all Wisdom, all Power, all Life andall Love, and yields these forces to eachheart to the extent that each correlateswith it. Hence it can no more be monop-olized by any individual than can theair we breathe, for each has access to it.

When we would enter the Silence letus think of a door opening slowly,smoothly and silentl'. As it opens see aradiant Light forth. As thisLight streams wn e Path it revealsto us things of wondrous beauty wherebefore all was dark and desolate. Wemay have thought we were alone, butin this illumination we now see the facesof our mothers and sisters, for they, too,are upon the Path.

Now we see in our fellow pilgrimsearnest endeavor where before we sawbut ignorance too dense for notice. Wesee true brotherhood and understandingwhere we saw but selfishness and pride.But let us not stop here, wonderful asthis revelation of brotherhood may be.This is but the threshold. Here must we

leave behind all thought and enter intorealization. Thought is no longerneede

When we have entered the realm ofpure knowing, of Divine Reality, let usstep across the threshold if we are quali-fied, and humbly take our places in theTemple of Silence. We will find our-selves one in consciousnesseach ac-cording to his own phase of develop-inentwith a vast multitude which noman can number, gathered from allpeoples and nations and kindreds andtongues to worship at the shrine of theCht

Some zna see this glorious companyof the Saints. Some may hear thePsalms of Life like a mighty chorus ofmany voices of surpassing sweetness.This choir is made up of the songs ofthanksgiving and praise that each heartsings as it finds itself a worshipper inthe Temple of Silence.

Others may hear the Music of theSpheres, the stately rhythmic cadence ofthe stars and planets as they follow theirappointed ways through space. Othersmay but feel the presence and receivethe comfort of the perfect harmony andoneness of all. Still others may seem tobe clasping bands with a band of fellow

Disciples which reaches around theworld.

But all will feel the waves of spirituallife-force bathing and filling them. Herewill spiritual realization illuminate ourconsciousness, for we have become onewith the Knower and can drink at thefountain-head of wisdom.

The Silence is not merely being quiet,nor even the absence of thought, but adefinite state of spiritual consciousness.If we try to enter without seeking toopen the little door into the inner sanc-tuary, if we seek aught but the radianceof the Christ, our chamber of silencewill be but a tiny cell in the outer courtsof the Temple of Silence, cold, desolateand disappointing.

it is well to make a tiny silence cham-ber Within our own hearts where no oneelse can enter, but unless we open there-in the little door through which shallstream the Light of the Cosmic Christ,we have not yet entered the sanctuary inthe Temple of Silence, the universalTemple for all humanity, where allGod's children are bathed in the essenceof the Christ, united in the vortex gen-erated by the spiral motion of the out-breathing of the Divine Creative Force,"the glorious robe of His strength."

wraps every true follower of the Christand which must ultimately enwrap allhumanity. This Seamless Robe of Lightis not a robe of man's fashioning, forthe robe of man is made of many colorsand many seams. It is composed of theseven color-rays of the planetary hier-archies, modified and multiplied by shin-ing through the influences of the zodi-acal signs. For, just as on earth the oneWhite Light is broken up into its sevencolor-rays and becomes white again onlyas all are joined into one, so in human-ity each must purify and manifest in per-fection his own color and then blendharmoniously with all the others crc theSeamless Robe can find expression onearth.

To teach mankind how to synthesizeall the colors into the pure white radi-ance of the Spiritual Sun, God sent hiswell-beloved Son down to incarnate inmatter and be dothed with the seven-fold forces of the planetary hierarchiesas they manifest on earth, yet, becauseof His oneness with the Spiritual Sun, toblend all the colors and make of themthe Seamless Robe.

Everything manifesting on earth is in-fluenced by these forces from the heav-enly regions, but each Soul must learn,by the power of the Christ, to master

and blend them alL Then, instead ofmanifesting around the circumference ofhis circle of Iife as he advances hedraws nearer and nearer to the centerwhere all the rays are indrawn into thepure white Light of the Christthe Sunof Righteousnessthe Source fromwhence they emanated in the beginning.

This was symbolized by the coat ofmany colors given by Jacobthe Fatherto his best beloved son, Joseph; butwhich brought only mockery and de-rision from his brethren.

This is also the robe in which the dis-ciple is clothed when, like Joseph, he issold into Egyptthe darkness of earthconditionsseemingly a slave to all theinfluences of the outer life. Like Joseph,however, he must find favor with theking, that he may, even in Egypt, gatherinto storehouses the food that shall sus-tain his brethren through the dars offamine. Then shall he be clothed in theking's robe and wear upon his finger thesignet of the king's favor and accom-plish the mission for which he was sentinto Egypt.

This is but another allegory depictingthe descent of Spirit into matter, theChrist into the darkness of human em-bodiment and ignorance. Instead of therobe of pure white, in passing through

the prism of matter it is clothed in arobe of many colors, winch of necessitymust have many seams and jolnmgs.

We hive all experienced the difficultyof blending or correlating our color,teaching or aspect of Truth, with thatof the many, many others, although weknow that their colors or teachings arebut differing manifestations of the whiteChrist-light which is always inany-col-ored in its human expressions. One maybe clothed in the colored robe of a cer-tain planetary condition, while his broth-er may be clothed in a robe of anotherplanetary condition, but as they strivefor the higher life both should seek toblend their colors, even though at bestthey make but a clumsy seam. We maytake our stitches very close. We maylaboriously rip out the first attempt andmake the union more perfect, but thereis always a seam until we learn to followthe Law. The Law is that the more weseek to blend our color with the Sourceof all colorsthe White Lightthe morewe become one with all colors.

Perhaps many have united with TheOrder of Christian Mystics with the firmdetermination to find the Christ, to enterinto the Temple of Silence and beclothed with the Seamless Garmentwhich this Order holds out. Here they

have found many brothers and sisters,each wearing a different robe, each striv-ing to reach the Goal along differentlines; and they have perhaps tried toharmonize themselves with other variouspersonalities. They may have workedardently and taken their stitches labo-riously and with painstalcing care. Theymay have said: "I will ioin myself toall these brothers and sisters that wemay all take our places and togetherhelp to manifest in the world the Robeof the Christ."

But, after all this is done they may bedisappointed to find that they have madethemselves, not a Seamless Robe, but acoat of many colors with many seams.To be sure, this beautiful coat must beworn as an outer garment as they de-scend into Egypt, but there they mustdon the robe of the Icing. They mayfaithfully fashion their robe, and thefiner the stitches and the more invisiblethe seams, the more perfect the garment.

But there is a more excellent way.In the center of the zodiac shines theSun. Upon the circumference it mani-fests as the various colors, yet in itselfit is a white radiant Light. Just so inthe center of the mystic Temple of Si-lence there stands the Christ, a purewhite Light whose radiance shines forth

to every heart, no matter how far outupon the circumference, and illuminesevery color with His Light, Life andLove.

As each heart responds to this Lightand turns from the circumference andlooks toward the center within it findsa resting place in the Temple of Silence.Pure white is uncolored and as eachcolor approaches the white it becomeslighter and lighter until it becomes onewith its source. Indeed, instead of usingthe term white, it would be better to saythe transparent, crystalline purity of adiamond. Thus is the coat of manycolors transformed into the SeamlessRobe of the Christ, "the glonous robeof His Strength."

Beloved ones, the time is drawing nearwhen this great realization of divine one-ness must have its expression in ourmidst, upon the physical plane. All whoare earnest and sincere in a desire toserve humanity and who find in The Or-der of Christian My.stics a fitting than-net for their activities, have silentlypledged themselves to gather up the foodthat is in Egypt, to 1111 the storehousesof Pharaoh that the children of menmay have plenty during the years offamine.

But remember that the Great Manifes-

tation will not be to this Order alone.There are many colors and many partsto the coat of Joseph which hnnianitywears.

Some colors shme through brothers asfar distant in body, in habit, in thought,as the East is from the West. Butthese brothers have for ages had accessto the Temple of Silence and have wor-shipped at the shrine of the Christ.There they have been waiting patiently,humbly, unostentatiously for theiryounger brothers and Sisters, hoping andpraying that we, like Joseph, are the oneswho have been sent into Egypt to garnerin the food with which to feed humanityin the days of famine. Not a famine ofbread, nor a thirst for water, but ofhearing the words of the Lord."

These elder brethren who seem tohave been favored in that they have re-mained apart from contact with theworld in the seclusion of their templesand the fastnesses of their mountain re-treats and have not been sold intoEgypt, have not developed the peculiarqualities which make it possible to livein Egypt and gather up the corn.

But they are one with us, ready to be-come helpers toward the establishmentof the New Jerusaleni.** They areready to give of themselves and all theyhave, considering first the kmgdom oiheaven and striving to establish a greatSpiritual Center which shall be a reflec-tion upon earth of the divine reality inthe spiritual realms, the universal Tem-ple of Silence.

Once understand the necessity of r )n-ning the Seamless Robe and joiningyourself to every true worshipper of theChrist and you will no longer say, "Iam of the West and they are of theEast. We will join and make an in-visible seam in the robe." No. Striveto clothe yourselves in the Seamless Robeand enter into the Temple of Silence,where the manifesting power of Divin-ity shall enwrap you and fill you and ra-diate from you; where you shall seeyour brothers and sisters from every na-tion and race and clime bathing theirSouls in the Divine Radiance.

You may ask, How you shall laiowyour brothers and sisters from foreignlands and how you shall correlate withthem. Simply enter into the Temple ofSilence. Clothe yourselves in the Seam-

20 The Temple of Silenceless Robe and wait. And as the Radi-ance fills you by its pure White Light.behold your brother I Behold your sis-ter I No longer are they of foreignlands. No longer of different tongues,different thought, complexion, costume.They are all clothed in the SeamlessRobe of the Christ, "the glorious robe ofHis strength." All are tilled with ardorand love and wisdom. All are restingbeneath the wings of the great Bird ofLife.

Take this thought, beloved, and as thedays go by and each day brings its pe-riod dedicated to the Silence, open thedoor of your hearts and enter into theinner Sanctuary and be filled with itscreative Silence. There will you blendin consciousness with those from allparts of the world who are worshippingat the same Shrine, and can communewith theni.

But be sure that you have surroundedyourself with the Flame of Divine Loveand Protection, and that your aspirationin pure and true. For there are manyfalse teachers in the invisible who willseek to enter the door of your con-sciousness which you have opened to thehigher worlds, and will seek to deceive,if it were possible, even the very Elect.Therefore, pray ardently for discrmmina-

tion and the guidance that is your birth-right. Then you may fearlessly enterthe Temple of Silence. Then will youknow that while your brothers and sis-ters differ as children of men, they arenot far from you; that they need not beseparated from you in consciousnesseven while upon the earthplane. For youhave found the Path and have enteredthe Temple of Silence. You haveclasped hands with all You have restedtogether under the Seamless Robe andare Soul.brethren.

THE above text may well be used asa inantram by all students of the

spiritual life. The Standard Dictionarydefines a ,nantram as "a formula orcharm used in Hindu invocations, usual-ly consisting of the name of some deityorashortaddress to him. Asacharznit comprises a definite formula set to anappropriate chant; the rhythmic wavesset in motion by its recitation are hcldto produce certain iven results, varyingwith each inantrain.'

All words have back of them the pow-er of their sound, number and lettersand the ideas they express; but a man-tram, in addition to the power of itsseparate words, has the vibratory forceof the words combined in a certainrhythmic cadence which gives the char-acteristic effect In the above instancewe have all these requirements embod-ied in a mantrans which calls mto activ-

ity the forces of the elemental powers ofthe earth.

We speak of the Lord, or the GreatLaw of Divine Love, and recognize itsembodiment, both in the holy temple ofnature and the holy temple of the humanbody. This formula includes a recogni-tion that all kingdoms of nature, fromthe elemental forces to man, must workin silence and harmony with the GreatLaw, instead of setting up opposing vi-brations of inharmony. But man hasgrown so far away from both natureand at-one-meat with the Great Silencethat etc he can correlate with them itis necessary to awaken in him thought-vibrations which shall bring to his con-sciousness some conception of the pa-tency and power which this inontram in-vokes.

The Great Silence, which is so impor-tant a part of the Soul's unfoldment,must be studied and some understand-ing of its laws be grasped crc the moreimportant steps can be taken; for evenupon the physical plane this Law of Si-lence is paramount. There is a greatdifference between being silent and en-tering the Silence; for to the inner earthere is no such thing in all creation assilence. Every living thing, from the

least to the greatest, has its voice, itstone and its vibratory motion.

The very universe with all its mani-fold creations is continually singing thepraises, or manifesting the harmonies ofthe Great Law, not only in the "foot-stool of God," our earth, and in thosevast reaches where we are told "themorning stars sang together," but also inthe temple of humanity.

To "keep silence before him" meansfar more than simply keeping silent orbeing still, ceasing the chatter of ourtongues, or even stilling our thoughts.The Silence that is meant is that holyhush of awe which overwhelms us whenwe begin to realize the vast and unalter-able sweep of the Great Law and ourindividual relation to it. It is the GreatSilence whose outer manifestations weglimpse when we stand in the presenceof such stupendous spectacles as Mt.Whtney Niagara, El Capitan or theGrand Canyon, to mention but a few.But the full realization of that Silencecomes to us only when we have cor-related with it within the deeps of ourown divine nature. It is the hush ofperfect submission to the Great Law;the hush of all opposition, all complain-ing or effort on the part of nature orman to take the Great Law into their

own hands; the hush of perfect obedi-ence which the univcrse, the earth andalt its manifestations, all creation, offerto the sway of Divine Will, operatingthrough the Great Law.

When we speak of "entering the Si-lence" or listening to the mystic, crea-tive notes of the "Soundless Sound," * sodense is the veil which this materialisticage has cast over man's perceptions thatfew have any clear conception of whatis meant. The Great Silence is the Cos-mic Reservoir of the Divine Conscious-ness which in a definite purposeful wayis ever striving for greater and moreperfect expressions of the Divine Idealin nature and in man.

The Silence is also The reservoir ofthe Divine Life-force (Christ-force) orthe Cosmic Sap whose animating andvivifying power, whose steady pressureis back of all evolution, physical, mentaland spiritual; that steady pressure ofcounteracting force which is ever work-ing to readjust the inharmonics whichresult from qpposition to or perversionof the Great Law.

evil, just as all wounds tend to healand all forms of disease to cure them-selves, if not retarded by a repetitionof the cause or by man's false premises,even if to accomplish this readjuStmentthe old and rebellious atoms must besloughed off with more or less suffering.All that the greatest science and art ofman can do is to work with nature toaid and quicken the readjustment andthus shorten the period of inharinony orsuffering,

The Great Silence is also the Powerwhich sets the limits to which inharmonyor rebellion against the Great Law cango; the Power which says, "Thus farshalt thou go and no farther." For whileman has free-will, it is only within thelimits set by the Great Silence. Theselimits are easily recognized in daily life,for no matter how great the pain, wecan suffer only up to a certain point,when the Great Silence enwraps us inthe silence of unconsciousness. No mat-ter how great our emotion, whether ofjoy or sorrow, when the limits arereached, nature ushers us into the si-lence, as when an apathy silences theexuberance of our joy or the grief-stricken one sobs himself to sleep. Nomatter how great our passion, when thelimits are reached, we are forced into

silence by exhaustion; even the bitter-ness of our greatest wrongs is softenedand finally lost in the dim silence oftime. Hence it is said, "Tune heals allwounds."

In the confused and discouraging con-ditions among European peoples follow-ing the World War many students ofworld conditions asked, "Is Europe dy-ing?" And the statement has been so-berly made that, "All hope of a nobleFellowship of Man seenas to be en-gulfed. All the beautiful altruism en-gendered by the war has been stifled."

But this is only temporary, the climaxwhich must bring its own readjustment.As Mystics we can help such world con-ditions best, not by an abundance ofwordy advice, but by holding stronglyand positively the optimistic thoughtthat "Sorrows may endure for a night,but joy cometh in the morning."

For, be it nations or individuals, theysuffer while the tide is running out,while the debris of the old cycle is beingwashed into the ocean of eternity.

The Great Silence is still broodingover the world and the mighty storm ofman's creating by its very fury will ex-haust itself and bring peace. Hence areturn to the Holy Temple of Silencewhere the Lord of Life reigns in peace

is inevitable for the children of men.Each one of us can help by letting

the guestionings of our own minds besilenced. We should stop mentally run-ning to and fro seeking the end, butrest before the altar in the Temple ofSilence, confident that the divine Lawof Life will ultimately straighten out allthe tangled ends and bring peace.

The Great Silence is the very essenceof creativeness. It is the force of inte-gration which is ever checking and still-ing man's conflicting storms of opiosi-tion, storms which are always chsmte- -

grating. It is an absolute hush, retvibrant with life. In it each creativenote has its full value in the resultantchord of harmony, and each color isblended into the pure white. It is likethe hush within the egg which precedesthe effort of the imprisoned bird tobreak the shell

The intent look of the mother birdupon her eggs shows that she is listen-ing to the silence that is pregnant withlife. Other manifestations in nature arethe hush that precedes all forms of ac-tivity, the hush before the storm, thehush at the turn of the tide, the stillnessjust before the dawn, etc.

The GreatS Silence is something out-side of yet including all nature-sounds,

which all nature feels and vainly strivesto understand and express. On the highmountain tops and in the vast stretchesof desert and plain, one seems to touchsomething that is more than silence; forsilence, dead and ominous, broods overthe "bad lands" and brings no inspira-tion. But in the mountains one seems tofeel the brooding of the creative Breathof Divinity and in awe asks, Is this theTemple of Silence, and can we enter it?

The mountains rear their heads inmighty grandeur or in fantastic ridges,as if bathing themselves in the mysticSilence, yet are dumb before that awfulcalm which seems like a living presenceembracing all. The plains stretch outin endless ,istas, as if striving to reachthe limitless shore on which beats themighty ocean of mysterious Silence, yetalthough bathed in it, filled with it andby it fed and sustained, they ever waitin reverent hush for the true solution ofour questioning. Every living thing inits own way strives to break the Silenceand tell us; yet the doors of the mightyTemple remain closed. The rising windwhispers in awe. The trees beckon andpretend to know or in fits of impotentutzivug, as if maddened by the elusiveSilence they cannot break, and lashed tofrenzy by the winds which whistle and

howl through their branches, they beatand sway until suddenly they are quietand, like a tired child, they are sob-bingly enwrapped in its comforting em-brace. Yet the answer comes not.

The musical brook overflows its banksand rushes madly through the valley,raising its voice, at first in a feeble wail,then to a mighty roar of protest to theGreat Silence it too would break. Yetthe Great Silence, before which all na-ture bows, remains like a beneficent over-shadowing presence, untouched by na-ture's attempt to reveal its secret. Toman alone, because he is made in theimage of God and given dominion overall the kingdoms of nature, is grantedthe power to throw open the doors ofthe Great Temple and enter into themystery of the Silence. But man mustfirst learn the lesson which every crea-ture and thing, animate and inanimate,strives to teach him. He must learn tosink his sense of superiority and forgethis self-importance in the presence of themighty works of nature, such as themountain peaks. He must recognize hishelplessness in the face of the tornadoand his littleness and insignificance onthe wide sweepsng plains and deserts oron the limitless ocean, crc he is ready toenter into the Temple of Silence.

He must "inquire of the earth, the airand the water the secrets they hold" forhim, also of everything, even the mostinsignificant in r.ature. Then, when ut-terly hopeless of an answer, he must in-quire of the God within and knock hum-bly on the little door of his own heart,and lo I the Still Small Voice will whis-per back the answer in tender breath-mgs of Divine Love; and crc he knowsit the doors of the mighty Temple swingopen and he stands in the presence ofDivinity and knows the Silence is hisown spiritual life and the life of allmanifested things. Yet, instead of feel-ing either awe, as before the mountainsor insignificance as on the limitlessplains or ocean, he realizes that he hascome into touch with something superiorto all the forces of nature1 and theyhenceforth can neither awe hun, aifrighthim or belittle him. He realizes that,while he is one with nature he is supe-rior to it, because, as a Son of God, heis also one with its Creator. He knowsthat he has but come into his own. Hehas entered his Father's house and theRing of Authority is placed upon his fin-ger. The Rod of Power has been placedin his hand, and the thrill of the mightycreative Love of the Divine Mother fillshis Soul.

The Silence is the divine peace of theEternal Harmony in Manifestationwhich enfolds all things and within thevery heart of which we live and moveand have our being. Hence, some dayall hwnanity must touch its boundariesand realize that only within it can peaceand rest be found.

Dear students, if just for an instant oftime you can hush the activities of yourminds and identify yourselve with theGreat Silence of harmony and perfectobedience and feel the vibrations of Urn-versal Life thrill through you, in thatmoment you have entered the currentof the One Life; you have recognizedthe Lord, and your Soul has made obei-sance before Him as Lord of Lords andKing of Kings; the very atoms of yourbodies have been changed, have ceasedtheir opposition, and with nature, theearth and the universe, have for an in-stant kept the Mystic Silence.

In that moment you may find yourconsciousness so expanded that therhythm of the One Life sweeps you onand on into a realization that all life isbut a vibration of Divine Manifestation.Or your experience may be but a mo-mentary stoppage of your worries andmental struggles, a realization that allthese things arc swallowed up in the

Great Silence. But, whatever the pe-nence, that moment of realization hasbeen for the Sout an open door into theTemple of Silence, a turn in the tide ofyour life.

Ofttimes we are 'vouchsafed such anexperience just before a great trial, likethe hush before a storm, that we mayprepare ourselves, may gain strengthand courage to carry us safely through;for are we not promised: "I will notleave you comfortless: I will come toyou.,,

To use this mantram as an integratingand unifying factor in your life theremust be a realization of the spfritualoneness of all life. Before entering theSilence, realize that the Lord, or theGreat Law, has its seven-fold snanifes-tations,* both in the temple of human-ity and in the temple of the individualhuman body, in all of which the GreatLaw must reign supreme.

Try to think of the One God mani-jesting under seven aspects, each with afocal point in the holy temple of yourbodks; for man, being a microcosm ofthe macrocosm, has within him centersof force corresponding to the sevenplanets of centers of force in our uni-

verse and the seven centers in our ownplanet earth, each planet being a centerfrom which one of the seven creativeRays"The seven spirits who stand be-f ore the throne"of the Great Lawemanates.

Hence, to attune your bodies to theGreat Silence you must let your mindsdwell upon the unity of manifested cre-ation and the obedience with which theuniverse keeps the Silence of the DivineHarmony, as a loyal subject stands insilence and awe before his king.

The effect of his realization on thebody is a complete change of polarity,at least for the time being, of its mole-cules, tending toward health, harmonyand regeneration; for, during that mo-ment you are whole, one with God andthe universe. However, unless you takethe lessons of the Silence with you andare able to stand still while nature isaccomplishing her readjustments andcasting out those things which pollutethe holy temple of your body, you willreturn to the old condition very littlebenefited.

"Therefore, though it take a whip ofcords to drive out all that opposes theGreat Law in your temple, still, in thatmoment of realization you have receiveda prophecy and a promise of that which

shall be, once you kneel in worshipfulsiience before the Lord."

This conception should be so well un-derstood mentally that it becomes an in-ner realization for on really entering theSilence all active thought must be swal-lowed up in aspiration and a realizationwhich transcends thought.

The Lord is He who "had in his righthand seven stars," "From his right l mdwent a lery law for them." And sinceman was created in His image he alsohas the power, if he wills to use it, tohold the potencies of the seven sacredplanets in his right hand. The two handsof man symbolize his two-fold powerto accomplish, and the Bible containsmany references to this symbol.

With his left hand man must reach upand achieve spiritual yictory and winMastery, while with his right he mustaccomplish the Divine Will in the worldof men, even as it is accomplished inheaven.

Job tells us, "Then will I also confessunto thee that thine own right hand cansave thee." * "His right hand, and hisholy arm, bath gotten him the victory."

But because he so often sets up thelaw of the lower man in opposition to

the Great Law and uses his powers towork for self, the left band has cometo be considered mundane and evil, butit is only evil when with it man pervertsthe Great Law in its earthly manifests-tions. Hence, the Gospel injunction, "Letnot thy left hand know what thy righthand doeth," lest the left hand pervertthe magic powers of nature to its ownselfish purposes.

Out of the Great Silence the universebuilds for itself a four-fold foundationstone, square, solid, true, and upon thisall manifested creation rests. The earthin its silent workings illustrates the four-fold lesson of obedience, patience, per-sistence and victory over all obstacles.Out of these elements we must buildfour corners of the cubic FoundationStone upon which we must stand andoffer up our sacrifices.

If in the first steps we find it but aStone of Sacrifice upon which, likeIsaac, we are bound hand and foot andupon which we seem destined to be sac-rificed by Father Abrahamthe Father-in-heavennevertheless, if we keep theSilence we will soon find that there isa ram caught in the thicket which shallbe sacrificed for us, L e., the ram or thesign Aries, which rules the herd, sym-bolizes our intellectual misoenceptiosi, of

the Christ and the Great Law whosepowers (horns) we have permitted tobecome inoperative by being entangled inthe thickets and underbrush of earthlyand materialistic conceptions. As soonas we are willing to listen and obey ourFather and be taught of God, willing toallow our preconceived opinions to besacrificed to a wider and fuller compre-hension, we find we do not have to suf-fer and be sacrificed ourselves.

The Christ-force, the essence of theOne Light of the universe manifestingthrough us, is sacrificed whenever wefail to keep the Great Silence of loveand harmony and permit it to flow un-impeded through us, because we havecreated all sorts of impediments to themanifestation of life, health and happi-ness.

But once glimpse the Light of theMystic Christ and we will see that allthose things are but cords which bindus; that the Stone of Sacrifice is not forus, immortal Sons of God, except aslong as-we need to lie there in the Si-knee; that our loving Father does notintend to sacrifice us, only to teach usobedience to the Law, while the fires ofKarma consume the cords and set usfree

Then we will find that through the

Silence we have learned that the Stoneof Sacrifice has become the FoundationStone upon which we now joyfully standupright and stretch up our left handsand grasp the forces of the planets andmanifest within us the power of the Godin whose image we were created, andwith our right hands gain the victory inthe outer life and distribute to ouryounger and less evolved brethren theblessings of wisdom we have gained.

Only when we reach out our lefthands and recognize our heritage, $ C.,that we are Gods ambassadors on earth,can we really enter into the Great Si-lence and utilize its potencies and pow-ers for ourselves, our fellow men andthe lower kingdoms.

No seeker ever sensed the Great Si-lence, even for a moment, who did notfind stealing into his heart the stillnessof the dawn of a new day of life andservice.

The Great Silence is ever striving tomanifest its harmony and express thePsalm of Life through us; but so oftenwe strike notes that are not in tune,chords of ambition, self-aggrandizementor discouragement and despair. Yet ineach and every experience he who us-tens with the ear of the Spirit will hearan undertone made up of the true crea-

tive notes of harmony. Listen for thesetrue notes. Pick them out from amongthe discords and let than sing to us ofthe Divine Love of Truth which we arestriving to manifest and which we canhear when we keep the Silence in ourholy temple.

To grow spiritually we must "Grow asthe flower grows, unconsciously, buteagerly anxious to open its soul to theSun"; for the flower grows because itkeeps the Great Silence. It does notresist or oppose the stream of the OneLife, nor strive to find some short cutto blossoming time that will enable it toavoid fulfilling the Law of Growth. Itsimply reaches out, root, branch and leaf,with an all-absorbing desire to let theOne Life fll it and unfold its latent pos-sibilities.

The Great Silence is a part of itsbeing, and it has but the one great de-sire to unfold and manifest the One Lifeto perfection.

But man has many desires, and sincehe has free-will he must choose betweenfollowing the guidance of the HigherSelf and following the 'esires of thelower, animal self. He must voluntarilychoose if he too is to manifest to thefulness of his being the One Life.

But he must do this because of his

own free-will he desires and wills itabove all else; desires it so powerfullyand tenaciously that desire is transmutedinto wilL In short, he must consciouslychoose, and by the power of his will, dothat which the flower does unconsciously,obeying the will of its Group Soul.

Only the Soul who can be still andfind its strength renewed in the CreativeSilence can conquer in the last great bat-tle. But let no one despair; for whilewe have many battles to fight ere we canopen the gates of the New Jerusalem,still "he that is with thee is greater thanhe who is against thee," for that whichis against us is the confusion and unrestof man's opposition and perverse refusalto let the great Creative Silence workthrough him.

Let him but breathe in unison withthe Great Breath and the gates will flyopen and the Light of the Lord God willillumine his Path. We may not be ableto penetrate at once into this sphere ofSilence, but we can begin to realize itif we will think of the Great Silenceas a Power which it forever adjustingand counteracting the oppo.siS&in andstilling Size confusion is our live,, andseek to work with it.

Keep saying to ourselves that we havewithin us the power to bring quiet cut

of the turmoil, peace out of the cån-fusion and harmony out of the discordof our lives, if we but "keep the Si-Jence" and let it adjust all things.

Let us stop going over and over ourtrials and worries and disappointments.Let us stop going over in our minds thebattles we have fought or those we thinkwe will have to fight. Stop trymg tostraighten out the lives of others I Stoptalking and gossiping of the shortconi-ings of others! Stop demanding per-fection in our fellow mortals! Be still,and let the Great Silence enwrap us allFor only the power of the Great Silencemanifesting within can quiet the turmoiland bring peace and understanding inour own life and the lives of our fel-lows.

We speak of "entering the Silence"because it is a reality, a state of con-sciousness, the ante-room of the Divine,into which we can enter at will once wehave learned the way. And every Son!who finds paramount in him the desireto live the spiritual life will ultimatelyfind entrance into that sphere of con-sciousness called the Great Silence orthat sphere of creative ower in whichall manifestitions work in the harmony

of Divine Law. It does not depend uponthe individual Soul to create this Silence,only to open his heart to it and allow itto manifest its harmonizing power in hislife.

The Great Silence manifests not in ataciturn refusal to talk or laugh or behappy and thus add to the world's unhap-piness, but it manifests as a greaterpoise, a greater patience, a greater powerto meet our temptations, trials andtroubles with self-restraint and insilence. It keeps us from fretting, fromtalking idly, from going to others, whomay be passing through trials which theyfind all they can bear, and throwing ourdoubts and depression upon them, thusperhaps adding the straw that will maketheir burden too heavy to bear.

Let each day be welcomed as an op-portunity to see how much of the har-monizing power of the Great Silence wecan manifest, no matter what our cir-cumstances or environment.

The Great Law has set our feet upona straight and narrow Path with sign-posts all along the way. The Law ofLove and Harmony is written uponevery rock by the wayside so that "Hewho runs may read." There are handsalways reaching out to guide us andangel yisitants gliding along beside us,

unseen, yet ever whispering words ofcheer and comfort.

That old and apparently orthodoxhymn which says:

"God shall send a guardian legionDown to help thee. Press thou on"

is a plain statement of a deep occulttruth. Therefore, if we stray from thePath and lose our way it will not be forlack of preparation for our safe guid-ance. For all the pilgrims who havepassed this way before us, from theGreat Souls who have mastered everystep down to the humblest pilgrim whohas found the sustaining power of theGreat Silence sufficient o smooth everydifficulty and remove every stone ofstumbling, each and all ha'e left wordsof encouragement, and a trail of theforce of Victory, behind them, which islike the guiding thread which Ariadnegave to Theseus to guide him out of thelabyrinth after slaying the monster Mm-otaur.*

They have left refreshing fountainswhere they have struck the rocks withtheir Rod of Power and the living wa-ters have gushed forth. They have alsoerected by the wayside many houses of

rest and refreshment which the earlierpilgrims knew naught of.

The Order of Christian Mystics is sucha resting place, a House of Refreshmentwhere the laws of the Path are freelygiven to all pilgrims who stop to inquire,and where its Teacher stands ever readyto guide them along the narrow Path,accompany them through the deep, darkchasms and up the steep hillsides wher-ever their paths may lead, if only theydraw close in faith and love.

Dear students, you who have heardthe Divine Voice from out the Silence,"Come ye out and be ye separate fromthe world," to you is it given to be thefirst to recognize and then to prove tothe children of men the power of theGreat Silence; the peace and love andharmony which the Christ within is everseeking to manifest, the essence of theOne Life slain since the foundation ofthe world and poured out for man's re-demption.

The day of achievement is dawning.The great cry of the Lord God hasgone forth, "Let all the earth, yea allthe earthly mamfestations of your RealSelf, keep silence."

The trumpet blast of His coming iseven now sounding in the world of

men, calling the awakened to recognizeHim and proclaim His coming.

There must be men and women ofpower and might who cannot be aifright-ed by any terror of the nightthe ter-ror of this night-time of confusion andinharmodynor by "the pestilence thatwalketh in darkness"the ill health anddisease which results from the darknessof man's ignorance and disobediencenor "the destruction that wasteth atnoonday"the oppression of man bymanmen and women who have hadmomentary glimpses of His glory andhave realized the solemn hush of theGreat Silence and its all-compellingpower to bring the Victory.

Such men and women are needed toclaim the heritage of peace and love andhealth for themselves and for all man-kind. Will you be one who will hence-forth strive to enter the Great Silenceand let it manifest through you?

ENTERING THE SILENCE"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy

closet, and when thou had shut thy door prayto thy Father which is in secret and thy 'atherwhich seeth in secret shafl reward thee openly."St. Matthew, vi, 6.

THE importance of having a set timeeach day when we focus our atten-

tion upon the ideals which we are striv-ing to express and when we strive tocommune with the higher spiritual con-sciousness of our Father-in-Heaven orHigher Self cannot be too strongly real-ized. But such a period of silence andquiet meditation is far from what ismeant by truly entering the .Sflence."Entering the Silence is an ecstatic statein which the human consciousness istranscended and, while it lasts, all senseof the personality is lost." *

This state of consciousness cannot beattained by intellectual processes, by aneffort of will or by any set exercises. Infact, its attainment cannot be taught, inspite of the many claims made and themany directions for entering the Silence

which have been published. It is attainedin so many ways by various types ofmind that no one method can be guar-anteed to produce results. The most thatcan be done is to help prepare tne pre-liminary conditions for its attainment.And, as we have already described thispreliminary preparation in our "Voice ofIsis," we will quote from that work as

the background of our consciousness, nomatter what we do to distract our atten-tion from it. Apply the same principleto your spiritual life and make the at-taininent of that life your main thoughtand ann."

"Prayer is an aspiration of the Soultoward the Divine. It may also be arequest, not for creature comforts andphysical thingsforced answers to suchprayers are too often but the result ofmental magicbut for spiritual food,love, light, courage, etc. In fact, prayercreates a magnetic line of force whichunites you with the supply or answer."

"While we teach that life itself bringsto the earnest seeker all the disciplinenecessary to strengthen his will, and thatthe ruling of his life brings the mostrapid spiritual growth, still it is well tohave a definite time set apart each dayfor concentration and meditation uponthe end for which he is striving." "Try to picture mentally the growthof a flower. Follow every step of itsunfoldment; first the tiny seed buriedin the dark earth, then the force withinthat seed which makes it, by and by,burst through its confining shell. Letyour mind enter into, in fact for thetime being become, this flower. Dwellupon the period of darkness while theseed is sending forth its thread-likefeelers, groping everywhere in the darkand gathering nourishment from theearth. With unerring instinct it fol-lows the law of its being, selecting suchnourishment as will assist its growth andrejecting that which is inharmonious.

"Follow the seedling through everyphase of its growth. At each step ap-ply the same law to your own growth.Think of the Soul as planted in thedarkness and loneliness of the materialconditions of this earth, yet containingwithin it the possibilities of fruitionitsimmortal destiny.

"Do not try to follow the seed throughevery step of its life-journey at the firstsitting; but meditate day after day uponone step or stage of growth at a time,

"When you have mastered one phaseof growth you are ready to pass on tothe next. And only when you have, atleast in some measure, grasped all thelessons thus taught are you ready to en-ter into the Silence, where you canlearn from the Divine and hear the voiceof your Higher Self 'the Master whomas yet thou hast not seen but whom thoufeelest.' "

your mind's eye the Divine Light de-scending upon you like a beam from agigantic searchlight far above yourhead. See the beam of Light surround-ing you with a circle of brilliant whiteLight forming the Ring Passaround you to protect you from all otherinfluences.

As the Light surrounds you, see itawakening within your heart abright Flame. Vatch this Flame spi ngup and grow until it illumines evcry fiberof your being with Divine Love andcompassion. Then see it ascend andblend into and make you one with theDivine Flame that is pouring down uponOu. Then ascend in consciousness with-

in the column of Divine Light to therealms of the Divine Consciousnesswhere you lose yourself in oneness withthe Divine.

"Only when the flower blooms does itopen its heart to the silent power of theSun and drink in the magnetic forceswhich could not be assimilated until thebloom had unfolded. should be relaxed, it is important not toallow yourself to become negative as istaught by some cults; for to do so is tothrow your consciousness open, not tothe Divine, but merely to the astralworld nd its inhabitants. The mindshould be neither negative nor tense, butactively receptive.

Also, if you prolong your attempt toenter the Silence beyond a reasonablelength of time, you are apt to drop downinto a negative vibration, just as a pure,high note can be struck in singing, butif it is held too long there is a tendencyto flatten the note.

Do not try to enter the Silence in acrowd or large audience or even in asmaller group who are not harmonizedto you. For every miscellaneous gather-ing generates a vortex of mixed forceswhich attracts various classes from theastral world. Also, in such a gatheringthere are always some few who insteadof entering with reverent awe into theholy Temple of Silence, merely sitquietly and become negative, thus open-ing themselves to the astral bemgs whocan be seen swarming around suchgatherings.

Therefore do not try to sit too longand do not enter the Silence with a large

number of others not known and affini-tized to you.

"Should the student attempt to enterthe Silence with no definite idea as towhose voice he is listening forwho theMaster Is upon whom he is to fix hiswhole attention. . . . he is in greatdanger of receiving impressions fromastral entities, either departed friends,elementals or powerful, but perverted en-tities, who would deliberately misleadand deceive him and use him as a toolto further their ends. For this reasonthe attitude of Soul that must always beheld is one of deep humility and ardent,aspiring devotion to the Divine.

"There must always be the positiveexpectation of entering the presence ofthe Divine. There must be a definite andfixed determination to listen to nothingelse, and to pci-mis nothing else to enteryour aura. Have no fear, however, for'Fear, 0 disciple, kills the will and staysall action.'

"When Jesus told His disciples to en-ter into the closet and shut the door, thecloset referred to the Silence, and the'door' which they were to shut was thedoor of the mind."

When youfind your mind wandering, bring it backand, if necessary, repeat, 'Peace, be still'Often it is a help to repeat the word'Silence' or repeat your given nameagain and again. THE SCIENTIFIC METHODTHERE are many avenues leading into

the Temple of Silence, for differenttemperaments need different methods ofapproach; mystical, devotional, scientific.Hence no absolute rules can be laiddown which will suit every type of mind.But in addition to the suggestionsalready iven we will add the followingvery ancient method for those of a scien-tific trend of mind who require a preciseformula. This method consists of fourstages: Relaxation, Rhythmic Breath-ing, Correlation, and Realisation orUnion with the Divine.

Relaxation. Lie fiat on your back,with just enough under your head to becomfortable. Avoid cramping or stretch-ing the neck and causing congestion orstrain. Close your eyes. Raise the armsand let theni fall loosely at the sides,exhaling the breath and relaxing com-pletely, "as limp as a rag." Then quietlyand slowly and without strain go overeach part of the body and consciously

relax it. Repeat the deep sighing exha-lation of the breath at each part of thebody until it is fully relaxed. Beginwith the eyes and forehead. Relax thelittle puckers and wrinkles around them,then those around the mouth and jaws.Next relax any tension within the brain.Next relax the tension of the nerves atthe base of the brain and the back ofthe neck. Next let your attention traveldown the neck and relax successively theshoulders, arms and hands to the veryfingertips. Then relax the chest and ab-domen. Especially see any tension orcongestion of the abdominal organs, aswell as of the back and spine, fully re-laxed and pliable. Then pass down thehips, the thighs, legs and feet to the toes.

Do not leave one part for the nextuntil it is fully relaxed.

Take plenty of time.If at first you do not have at least

a half hour do not begin.Remember that in this exercise there

must be no sense of time, hurry, effortor tension.

Do not be discouraged if you are notcompletely successful in the early at-tempts. If you persist you will be suc-cessful later on.

If you notice any tension or effortarising at any time, exhale deeply and

relax it. Remember it will take sometune for your mind to tram your nervesand muscles to obey. After you havegone over the body carefully step bystep, then begin at the eyes again andcheck over each part briefly to see thatit is completely relaxed, givin; it an-other exhalation of the breath if neces-sary. Repeat this checking over oncemore to be sure. Your body should nowbe thoroughly relaxed and ready for thesecond step.

Rhythmic Breathing. The rhythm ofthe breath changes with each mentalstate: joyous, worried, angry, happy, etc.It is a psychological law that the reverseis also true, namely, "going through themotions of expression induces thephysical and mental state expressed."Therefore, practicing a certain knownrhythm tends to induce to the desiredstate.

Still lying flat and relaxed, note thatas you inhale quietly the abdomen gentlyrises, and as you exhale it falls, the chestremaining quiet except during very deepbreaths. This up and down action ofthe abdomen massages all the abdominalorgans, relaxes their tension, relievescongestion and soothes the solar plexus.quietly take a deep breath and exhaleit with a deep sigh as if very tired, and

note the soothing and calming effect.Repeat this breath quietly several times.Then note that your natural breathingwill begin a new rhythm of itself1 quiet-ly and easily, but not deeply. Do notcount it or tame it or interfere with ortry to control it in any way, just let itquietly establish its own slow rhythm,like the slow swing of a pendulum.When once established this is yourbreath rhythm. Give yourself up to ituntil you feel completely calmed andrested. Remember the rate and the feelof it so you can relax and revert to itat any time when you need rest and re-cuperation; for this is your personal andindividual recupe:ative breath-rhythm.

Correlatioas with Peace and Power.While the rhythmic breathing goes onautomatically, begin to relax the mindand prepare to correlate with the uni-versal Cosmic Christ-force in its aspectof prana or life-force. it is almost im-possible to make the mind a blank untilthe higher stages or Realization arereached, but you can begin by relaxingthe mind and stillin? the stream ofthoughts and mental pictures. Quiet themind by imagining it as a blackboardover which you pass a damp sponge,wiping out the pictures of every thought,experience or vibration of the day's ac-

tivity. Quietly pass the sponge over itseveral times until you have wiped itclean and made it ready to record anentirely new series of ideas, the begin-nings of Divine Realization. Then sayquietly to yourself: "The Universe isvast, illimitable. Out in Cosmic S_pacethere is no time, only the peace of Eter-nal Duration." Repeat this statementseveral times7 trying to realize the fullmeaning of it until that Cosmic Peaceflows into you and brings mental peace.

If you find your mind slipping backto your worries1 anxieties or outer af-fairs, quietly bring it back to the con-templation of the Cosmic Peace. Do notput forth any effort, strain or concen-tration to do thisfor in this entire ex-ercise there must be no strain, effort orstrivingbut gently turn the mind againtoward the Great Peace and let it batheyou.

Next, quietly realize that there mustbe a Cosmic Power which holds thecountless planets and worlds in their ap-pointed places and swings them throughspace without shock or friction and inperfect rhythm and harmony. Realizethat this Cosmic Power operates underperfect laws and without hesitation ormistake. Therefore, you can trust im-plicitly in that Power and in those Laws.

Think how perfectly every atom in allrealms and worlds is governed, cared forand watched overt And since you aremore than an atom, a Iivin Soul, youtoo are included in the loving care ofthe great governing Power, and have allthe power of the Universe back of you.

Repeat some such words as these: "Iam a conscious part of the Infinite Uni-verse. I open my body, my mind, mySoul to its inflowing currents." Thenfeel yourself bathed in those inflowingcurrents. Consciously evil that theyshall circulate throughout your body, vis-iting successively every part in the orderin which you prepared them by your relazing exercise. Go over the body threetimes, feeling the currents flooding everycell, even to the tips of your hair. Thendirect the currents upon any special trialor problem with which you wish help,strength and guidance, and see it filledwith the Power: see it solved, overcomeor made plain as the case may be. Re-member, never direct this Power to an-other to compel him to do or not to dowhat you desire, as that would be ablack magical misuse of it and wouldreact disastrously upon you. Use thispower only for your own healing, perfec-tion, help, enlightenment and spiritualadvance. If you tend to drop off to sleep

during this exercise, refuse to do so, butgently awaken yourself to the realizationof this Power flooding and regeneratingyou. Thus Will you find you have tappeda new source of help and strength, anew ability to accomplish your work andcope with whatever conditions the GreatLaw may bring to you or you may createfor yourself.

Realization and At-one-ment. Younow approach the supreme object of allpreparation, of all religion, of all medi-tation, of all spiritual seeking, namely,actually entering the holy Temple ofSilence where you can consciously con-tact the Source of your Divine Life;where you gain a realization of the Di-vinity that made you what you reallyare: that Divinity which shapes yourends: that Divinity whose overshadow-ing and indwelling Power has broughtyou to your present stage of unfold-ment. For it is Within this holy Templeof Silence that you meet the Lord ofLife and Love and Beauty face to face:the Lord thy God or the Law of thyGood, the Everlasting Law which hasbrought all things into manifestation.

It is the little door of spiritual con-sciousness which opens into this holy

Temple of Silence which you are nowlearning how to open. It cannot belearned all at once, so keep on persist-ently practicin9 until you can open it andenter in at will, withdrawing your con-sciousness from outer conditions at anytime or place It wiU then become aplace of refuse where you can enter atwill and feel its great comfort, love andencouragement: its mighty Power tocarry you safely through all outer con-ditions and trials.

When you have correlated with thePeace and Power of the mystic Silenceand charged your whole being with it, asin the previous step in this exercise, turnyour attention to the little door of thisInner Shrine and see it slowly open.Then feel the outpouring absolute still-ness and peace of the mystic Silenceflood your Soul Then you will realizethat out of the Silence a new vibrationof wondrous sweetness has arisen andenfolded you. Quietly allow yourself torespond to and merge yourself into thisvibration, for it is the Presence of Di-vinity. Thus will you lose all sense ofseparateness, all sense of personality, inthat Divine Union which is oneness withyour own Higher Self which is one with

AT the beginning of its work The Or-der of Chrùtw'i Mystics established

a noonday Silence and Healing serviwhich is open to all and with which allare urged to unite. In this service, justas the clock strikes twelve, strive to en-ter the great Temple of Silence, don theSeamless Robe of the Christ and becomeone with your brothers and sistersthroughout the world.

As it is noon in some part of theworld all the time, and as our pupils inall parts of the world are sending theirlove and force to this Center as theclock strikes twelve, it makes a contin-ual stream of force sweeping around theworld every moment of the day andnight.

And to the forces manifested at thisservice we feel we owe a great part ofthe continued success of the Order andthe spread of its Teachings, as well asthe many remarkable cures, and otherforms of help and guidance, which are

constantly reported by our pupils ironsall over the world, many telegraphing,and even cabling from foreign countries,when in urgent need for the special helpof the Order.

Not only do our students come forhelp, but their love adds a touch ofhuman sympathy and comfort to thegreat Cosmic currents of spiritual forcewhich are poured into humanity fromthe higher realms through this Orderand which sweep weitward around globefrom its Center, carrying Light and love,health and prosperity to all who whenin need correlate with those currents,burning up the chaff and unfolding theblossoms of love and unselfishness in thehearts and lives of each one who re-sponds to them. As everyone who thuscorrelates with us at this-time becomesa co-worker with us and the Mastersback of the Order, this forms a strongbond of fellowship, love and helpfulnesswhich so many of our students feel.

All that is necessary for you to par-take of this great stream of spiritualforce and love is mentally to unite your-self with this band of devoted brothersand sisters who are joined hand in handand heart to heart in an endless chainwhich reaches around the lobe1 .for thepurpose of rendering unsellish service to

All students should set aside at leastten minutes during the day for silentmeditation upon the Divine or uponwhatever their conception may be of theHighest, the Greatest Good or Godbywhatever name it may be known in thevarious languages of our studentsandshould faithfully keep this tryst withtheir Higher Selves.

If possible make this time at noon.If this is not possible, at least sendyour thoughts of love and helpfulnessto the Center of the Order at thattime and contribute the force of yourlove and devotion to the upliftment ofall This is an exercise in practical oc-cultism whose far-reaching effects wehave abundantly proved.

At the conclusion of the Silence Pe-riod we mention the names of all whohave asked the help of the Order andmentally see them step into and bathein the great pool of radiant Light of theChrist-force which we invoke that theymay receive a physical as well as spir-itual blessing.
