Welcome to the art of creative writing!Writing, as we all know, is a very important skill to learn in school.It is primarily a skill that cannot be learned through theory, butonly by practice. A good foundation in writing skill will notonly improve a students ability to communicate effectively withothers, but will also strengthen their skills in their future studies

and working life. Competence in writing is increasingly seen asvital to equip learners for success in the twenty-first century.

Composition Writing is a series of ten books. They have beensolely written for students in the age group of 6 to 16. The lessonsherein are age-appropriate and cross-curricular and have beencompiled and written with the sole purpose of developing astudents creative thinking and expression. They cover the basicsof vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and sentence building

and focus on guided and free writing. They also deal with thetechniques of brainstorming and editing.

These books aim to help learners find their way slowly but steadily,to help them become familiar with some of the ways in whichtexts can be structured and write confidently, fluently and withunderstanding. Most importantly, they are aimed at developinga students power of imagination, inventiveness and criticalawareness.

The series may be used independently or alongside other Englishcourse books for the teaching of Writing Skills. Whatever thepurpose it is used for, we are confident that if students go throughthe series conscientiously, they will learn to write well.

The street near my house is very crowded. There is always a lot

A Day To Fly KitesOne day, the young boy went to a park to fly hiskite. It was a nice one that his father had given him.The sun shone brightly. There was a nice wind.

Things I Like About My School

My name is Kareena Rai. I am eight years old. I study in

Mary Poppins School for Girls. It is in Dhumbarahi. Thereare classes from playgroup to class 10. It is a girls school sothere are no boys to tease us.

My school is nice and beautiful. We have two big playgrounds.One is for the younger children and the other is for the seniorgirls. There are swings and slides for us to play on. There is

a basketball court for us. I like playing basketball and so doall my friends. We have other games like table tennis and badminton. We have a big gym and our gym teacher is verygood at what she teaches us. My Principal makes sure thatwe get a lot of exercise. She always says that exercise is goodfor us.

We have a garden in the front with many beautiful flowers.Each class takes turns to water the plants and clean thegrounds every day. It is something that we all enjoy. We wantour school to look beautiful and clean all the time.

A Visit To The Zoo

I visited the zoo last Saturday. I went with my parents and

younger sister. The zoo is situated in Jawalakhel. My motherpacked some sandwiches and fruits in a picnic basket. We leftthe house at 8:30 in the morning. We reached the zoo at 9:15and went in after buying our tickets.

We went to see the crocodiles first. They were all sleeping in thesun. We then visited the deer. Some were big, some were small.There were spotted deer also. I wanted to see the monkeys so I

ran off with my sister to their cages. There were so many babymonkeys playing with each other. They made us laugh. Wespent some time watching them. We fed them bananas.

We then went to see the bear. There was only one bear in thezoo when I visited. It was big and black. It looked very sad.Maybe because its cage was smelly.

My sister was hungry, so we found a nice place to sit down.

My mother took out the sandwiches. They were very tasty. Idid not want to waste time eating the fruits so I went to seethe birds. There were many different kinds of birds in the zoo.Some of them had beautiful colours. While watching the birds,the elephant came along. People were sitting on its back. I feltsorry for it because it had to take so many people for rides.

My father wanted to see the snakes next. I do not like snakes,

so I stayed far. Before leaving the zoo, we all went for a boatride. I nearly fell into the water while looking over the side.My sister kept laughing at me and made me very angry. Weleft the zoo at 4:30 p.m.

I enjoyed my visit to the zoo and cannot wait to go there again.I hope the people in charge can get more animals so that I willhave more to see during my next visit.

I enjoy reading storybooks and I like

listening to stories. My best time is bedtime because my mother reads to me every night before I go to sleep. I know all the childrensstories and all the fairy tales. My favouritestorybook is Cinderella.

Cinderella was written by Hans Christian Anderson.He was a famous writer who wrote beautiful stories

for children. The story is about a pretty girl calledCinderella. She lived with her father who was a king.Her mother had died when she was very small.

Her father married again but her stepmother andstepsisters were mean to her. They were jealous of her because she was very beautiful. They made her wearold clothes and do all the housework. But Cinderellanever told her father anything. She was a sweet andkind girl.
