--As you know, this last weekend, we hosted the Annual Meeting of the IdahoAssociation Churches of the United Church of Christ. It was a great gathering of about 40of our members from our nine South Idaho Churches. Special thanks to Robin Canningfor the enormous about of extra work she did in helping plan and organize everything. Also, Linda Baxter and Joan Wenske were just fantastic in planning and preparing themeals for the gathering. Everyone commented about how unusually good everything was! They were helped by Jack Wenske, Dwain Baxter, Mary Pond, Susan Busche, RonnaSundell, Dale and Mary Ellen Parsons.
--Other noteworthy news from the Association: Jack Wenske was elected to a two-year term as Moderator of the Association; and Jim Morrow was elected to a three-yearterm on the Board of Pilgrim Cove! Thanks to both of you for being willing to serve inthese important positions!
--So glad to note that Joan Marks, Bob Brown, and Agnes Thayer have all been ableto return to church after a series of illnesseslhospitalizations. "Give and spend where you want your heart to be, and then letyour heart catch up. Don't just give to those things you care about.Give to the things you want to care about."
May these thoughts and the themes that are presented eachSunday help you decide your financial commitment to WrightCongregational Church for the year 2011, the start of our second 100years.

Notes from the Board
We are God's children; God loves his children! JamaCapshaw opened our board meeting with a devotion describinghow God's paint brush brings the fall colors to the leaves. Onedoes not have to look far to see the brilliant colors of the fallseason. Knowing we are God's children and God wants us toexperience the beauty of the world, we conducted the businessof the Church.
We have had a wonderful turnout for the Children'sSunday school classes. All the children you see in the front ofthe Church for the Children's moment attend our classes. Wehave a dedicated group of teachers, but we can always use afew more. Will you give of your time to facilitate a class? Weare not asking for religious scholars, we are just asking you tohelp. See Lois Taylor if you can give a few weeks this fall.
Weare planning our Stewardship drive which leads intoour budget process for 2011. If you have any budget requestsplease see the Chair of the appropriate committee. As best wecan, we want the Church to provide your needs.
100 years of Wright! Yes, we are now 100 Years old. Wehave a few coffee mugs, plates, and T shirts still available. OurWomen's Fellowship has a beautiful quilt, be sure to purchaseyour raffle ticket. Don't wait another 100 years.
Thank you to all who attended the Idaho Conferencemeeting.
We are God's children and we are loved by our heavenlyFather.
Respectfully submitted, Will Patterson, Board Chair

GALATIANS 2:20
Caterpillar Dinnermack in my Peace Corps days, I vowed to eat anythingoffered in home hospitality, says Global Ministries volunteer,Ann Nichols. This seemed especially important when theinvitation was from a family with limited resources who hadprepared food especially for the guests. I have eaten someinteresting things under that rule, but I had never beforebeen faced with a bowl of roasted caterpillars, and my ownvow. Idid manage to get half of one down. Fortunately, Ihadonly put two on my plate.
This happened in Caroline's home. She is a big-hearted Zambian woman I metrecently. She asked if I had visited in a Zambian home yet, and when I said I hadn't,she invited me to her home. She came with a baby tied around her back in a colorfulcloth sling. We walked out of the compound, down the road, onto a dirt paththrough a market, down more dirt roads, to another market where she bought somelocal eggplants, onions, and the caterpillars. Mountains of caterpillars. As we walkedto Caroline's home I thought about trust - trust in God and trust in others. I knew Iwould safely arrive at Caroline's house, and that I would survive eating thecaterpillars. But I was to learn much more about trust from Caroline.
Caroline and her husband have 3 children of their own, ages 1,4, and 7, and theyfeed, clothe, educate and support 12 orphans, none related to their family, in theirrented 2-room home. The orphans range in age from 2 to 16. I learned about a verydifferent level of trust from Caroline: that somehow the family would havesomething to eat each day, that the school fees could be paid for every child, and thatthey will somehow get by. Caroline explained that she was helped by others when shewas growing up, so that is why she is able to know everything is in God's plan.Caroline says that she lives by faith, and God has never let her down. I now try topractice the kind of trust that Caroline lives by each and every day.
Pray for a growing faith and trust like Caroline's that makes our world a better place.
Ann Nichols serves as a long-term volunteer with the Mindolo Ecumenical Foundationin Kitwe, Zambia teaching social work and leadership development.
