Miley Cyrus – Wrecking BallTechnical analysis
Coverage, shots and takes
Wrecking Ball is made up of three scenesEach of the scenes have been used to gather COVERAGE: a gathering
of raw footage to enable the editor to create an effective cut.Gathering coverage requires a number of different SHOTS to be taken.Several TAKES would have been recorded for each shot. Some of these shots are performance based (Miley sing, swinging a
sledge hammer, swinging on a wrecking ball)Others are cutaways (walls being smashed). There is no obvious storyline to the video, the video is basically the
literal metaphor for the lyrics.
SCENE 1 – Miley singing
1. Close-up, this close up was used to show how sad she was (she even cries at the start)
2. Mid shot, the mid shot showed more of her and her sad anger came out in erratic movements.
Miley stood in a white light room singing directly at the camera
