But as for me, it is good to be near God. — Psalm 73:28
We have no greater privilege than to draw near to God. We come to him through the merit of Christ crucified. We come by the power of the Holy Spirit. And we come with God’s promise that he will draw near to us ( James 4:8).
If your faith has not yet come to rest in Christ, and if God is awakening in your heart a desire to take the next step, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact the pastor or speak to him as you leave the sanctuary. A husband and wife team will also be standing next to the pastor following the service to speak with anyone interested in exploring what it means to know Jesus Christ or to join this church.
May our gracious Lord draw near to you wonderfully in this service today.

Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the lord is to be praised.
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
Let us worship God.

The Theme:
Evangelism
Who at my door is standing, there patiently drawing near, whose entrance is demanding? Whose is the voice I hear? Sweetly the tones are falling: “Now open the door for me. If thou wilt heed my calling, I will abide with thee.”Door of my heart, I hasten. Thee will I open wide. Though he rebuke and chasten, he shall with me abide. Sweetly the tones are falling: “Now open the door for me.” Lord God, I hear thee calling, come now, abide with me.

† The Confession of Faith .........................................Westminster Larger Catechism Q. 66. What is that union which the elect have with Christ?
A. The union which the elect have with Christ is the work of God's grace, whereby they are spiritually and mystically, yet really and inseparably, joined to Christ as their head and husband; which is done in their effectual calling.
Q. 67. What is effectual calling?
A. Effectual calling is the work of God's almighty power and grace, whereby (out of his free and special love to his elect, and from nothing in them moving him thereunto) he doth, in his accepted time, invite and draw them to Jesus Christ, by his word and Spirit; savingly enlightening their minds, renewing and powerfully determining their wills, so as they (although in themselves dead in sin) are hereby made willing and able freely to answer his call, and to accept and embrace the grace offered and conveyed therein.
The Old Testament Lesson ................................................................... Isaiah 52:1-10page 1144 in the pew Bible
The Response
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
But the Word of our God stands forever.
The Personal Confession of Sin
The Corporate Confession of Sin (Please kneel)
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you. Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
Adapted from Psalm 51

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ............................................... Jeremiah 31:33, 34
“This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
Open my eyes and I shall see; incline my heart and I shall desire; order my steps and I shall walk in the way of your commandments.
O God, be my only Lord, and beside you let there be none else, no other, none else with you. Teach me to worship you and serve you in all of my undertakings with truth of spirit, with honor of body, with blessing of mouth both in public and private. Amen.
(Lancelot Andrewes, 1555-1626)*

He is here for the broken and life to the one who is undone. He is peace to the wounded and hope for the helpless one.He is here, he is here.
Be still my soul, be still. Be still my soul, be still. Wait patiently upon the Lord. Be still my soul, be still.
When the waves rise against me and the wind tries to draw me away, I will stand on the mountain, safe in your arms I will sing, I will sing.
Be still and know he is God. He is here, he is here. Be still and know he is God. He is here, he is here.
