*CALL TO WORSHIP

L: Disciples of Christ, who are you? P: We are the body of Christ. L: What does that even mean? P: We serve as God’s hands and feet, God’s eyes and ears to this world. L: What does it mean to serve, to be Christ’s body at work? P: We are called to live out love toward everyone. L: As he did with Jesus, God has put his Spirit upon you. P: May we receive God’s spirit, and may we live lives of justice and

compassion. L: Holy One, bless us and our worship this day. P: May our worship bring us deeper into your presence. L: Let us worship God. P: Let us worship God!

*HYMN #420 “God of Grace and God of Glory” (vv. 1-4)

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Oh Lord, we can be a difficult people. We have entered the season in which your Light, your Servant, your Son has been made known to the world. Your bountiful blessings have been poured out on us through your Son, and yet too often we only think about our problems, our needs, our wants. Forgive us and help us instead to seek you, and to yearn for your presence. Pour your baptismal waters over us again, cleansing us from our selfishness and arrogance. Nourish and heal us so that we may serve you and our sisters and brothers. Wash away our jealousy, greed, and any negative thoughts which stand in the way of us truly being the servants you have called us to be, bringing your ‘mishpat’ to the world.

(silence is observed for individual reflection and prayer)

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Sisters and Brothers, the love and forgiveness of God are offered to us freely

and joyfully. Receive and rejoice in God’s love and forgiveness. P: How great to know that in Jesus Christ we are loved and forgiven!

THE APOSTLE’S CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

REVELATION CONTINUES...!

Our Bible Study of the book of Revelation has returned! Whether or not you have attended the fall

sessions, you are very welcome to join us as we take on chapters 10 & 11 on January 16th, chapters 12 & 13 on January 30th, and chapters 14 & 15 on February 13th. We will then take a break for Lent and conclude our study of Revelation in the spring, starting again on April 23rd. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn and discuss the mysteries of this

infrequently studied book. We look forward to seeing you there!

In 2019, Session approved a fundraiser which supports the budget and also helps us be a blessing to the world: “Baking a Difference” by Kathy Pullano. After worship TODAY, this delectable opportunity kicks off in the Fellowship Hall! There will be packages of cookies to

purchase, with the hopes that two things will happen: 1) the funds (cash only, please) will go to support the budget; and 2) you will use the treats to brighten someone’s day.
