Possible Solution

Right, after trawling through various forums I've found a solution that worked for.

Problem

After clicking install, nothing would happen. Occasionally the error mentioned in the first

post would occur, but normally just plain nothing. I tried finding and replacing the files

mentioned in some other posts (such as the autoexec.nt, config.nt, etc.) but this didn't work.

My Solution

1. Insert CD into Drive

2. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Program Compatibility Wizard

3. Click next

4. Select "I want to use the program in the CD-ROM drive, and click next

5. Select "Microsoft Windows 95", click next

6. Do not select any of the options on the next screen, they are unnecessary, just click next

7. Click next

8. Select option for "Remember settings"

9. Close Wizard

Worms 2 should now install properly

Once installed

1. Navigate to "C:\Team17\Worms2"

2. For each ".exe" file (see list below):

2.1. right click on file

2.2. select "Properties"

2.3. select "Compatibility" tab

2.4. select option for "Run this program in Compatibly mode for"

2.5. ensure drop down menu shows "Windows 95"

2.6. click ok

The files you need to perform step 2 for are:

C:\Team17\Worms2\worms2

C:\Team17\Worms2\Frontend

C:\Team17\Worms2\Binaries\Landgen

C:\Team17\Worms2\Data\Wav\BankEditor

You should now have to game installed, and you should be able to play it by either inserting

the CD, and clicking on the play icon, or finding the program on the start menu, and

inserting the CD when required.

Side Note

These steps worked for me, and should hopefully for you. The only other thing that I did

before trying these steps was to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. I don't know if this

effected the install, so it might be an idea to install Service Pack 3 before you try these steps

if it isn't already installed on the machine.

In any case, you should install Service Pack 3, as it is always good practice to make sure

your operating system is fully up-to-date.
