Cold Formed Dowelsand Shafts

From 3 to 18 mm Ø andin lengths of 10 to 120 mm.

They do not differ muchfrom the turned workpieces. According to thedesired application, theparts will be hardened &ground or unhardenedand if necessary speciallytreated. Parts can bedelivered drilled, ornotched, or with spiral groo-ves or air release flats.We have both centrelessand plunge grindingfacilities.

We do turning and grindingwith conventional machinesfrom diameter 0.5 to 20 mm.Our CNC machines canturn and mill from bars upto 60 mm.

By employing a newgeneration of turningcentres an All-in-onetreatment is made possible.

turning and grinding technique,description on Page 6 and 7.

2. Cold formed Dowels and shafts,description on page 8 and 9.

These are parts which are producedaccording special customerrequirements and their drawings.

Dowels and shafts can be dividedinto two fields at DEMA:1. Dowels and shafts produced by

turning and grinding technique, description on Page 6 and 7.2. Cold formed Dowels and shafts,

description on Page 8 and 9.

These are parts which are producedaccording special customerrequirements. These requirementsare laid down on a drawing and weproduce accordingly.

The picture shows among other itemsdowels with spiral grooves which aremounted into differential gears. Thisdesign is much more cost effectivethan the production of the spiralgroove in a gear wheel to provide anoil supply.

The occupation with turned workpieces of this group is madeinteresting by its numerous variations.The quantities produced range form1 single piece up to several millionpieces.Modern CNC-turning technology isintegrating more and more milling anddrilling techniques. Therefore evenmore complex parts can be produced.The all-in-one treatment allows us toreduce the setting up actions therebyachieving higher precision andreducing cost at the same time.

Materials and Semi-finished partsThis is the basis for the quality of thefinished part.Our core-competence mainly lies inthe further treatment of cold-drawnprofiles. By cold-drawing of thematerial a high dimensional accuracy,a smooth surface and work hardeningis achieved.

Special Profiles:The use of profiles, which areproduced as close as possible to thefinished product size, allows for acost effective manufacturing of milledparts. Profiles are therefore onepotential for saving cost of machines,wages and energy.
