    RECAP: TWENTY YEARS OF WORLDMUN

Despite the reezing cold temperatures o New York, thisJanuary, the largest reunion o past and present World-

MUN members gathered at the Down own Associationto celebrate our organizations upcoming twentieth coner-ence.

Te evening began at 4 PM with cocktails and appetizers. Many o our team members had arrived directly rom theirwinter breaks and were extremely happy to see each otherand catch up on what happened with their individual J-terms and traveling adventures.

As the evening continued, alums began arriving at ourevent. It was amazing to see recent graduates and al-ums rom the original class o 1992 meet and discusstheir WorldMUN years as well as their lives and experi-ences since graduating. A ew members o the oundingteam (pictured above) hadnt seen each other since theirCommencement and were eager to catch up. We wereextremely pleased with the act that every single coner-ence was represented at our event and a good number oSecretary-Generals were able to rally members o theirclass to attend.

Te highlight o the night was dinner and (as per World-MUN tradition) various team members would volunteerstories and aneocdotes rom their individual conerences. Many o these tales were unny, heartwarming, and in thecase o the original conerence in Miedzyzdroje, Poland, extremely impressive and bewildering. Many o our cur-rent team members were awestruck by how past coner-ences were able to pull o their incredible eats and itserved as urther inspiration or us to do the very best jobwe could with our upcoming conerence in Singapore.

At the end o the night, it was great to see people ex-changing business cards, e-mails, and phone numbers.Te WorldMUN alumni database beneted heavily romattendees volunteering inormation on other riends andupdating their own contact inormation. As an organiza-tion, it is our sincere hope that we can continue to haveevents such as this and expand the incredible alumninetwork that we are so lucky to have.

    UPDATE ON THE RESOLUTION PROJECT

    he Changing Scape o MUN:

As the Secretariat packs up and heads o toSingapore, we would like to share some detailsabout the 20th session o World Model UnitedNations. For the very irst time ever, WorldMUNwill have more delegates coming rom Asia thanrom any other continent. his represents a larg-er change in the global MUN circuit and as anorganization, we welcome the increasing diver-sity around the world that MUN conerences ap-peal to.

In order to urther diversiy the conerence, and to allow delegates rom all backgrounds to attendWorldMUN, we established a positive inancial aid program this year, and successully distributed$30,000 in inancial aid and ee waivers to delegations, helping deray the cost o attending World-MUN. his amount marks double the amount o inancial aid distributed in recent conerences. Aconsequence o this program is the huge leap in the number o developing nations represented thisyear, with over 200 delegates rom Indonesia, and a urther 150 rom South Asia, and countries as arapart as Jamaica and Aghanistan. We hope that this initiative will grow in uture years as we seek touphold the t itle o being the worlds most diverse MUN conerence, bringing the WorldMUN Spirit toyouth across the globe.
