The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) is the apex body which manages the tourism business of Abu Dhabi, the largest of seven emirates which form the United Arab Emirates.

With over 200 islands, over 400 kilometres of pristine coastline and easy access to the clear, warm, waters of the Arabian Gulf, Abu Dhabi is a destination truly blessed by nature’s bounty – and a haven for water sports. The sea and its bounty has long been revered by the people of Abu Dhabi, it having been a source of food and income from pre-oil days when it gave up it treasured pearls to be the emirate’s major foreign exchange source. The waters around Abu Dhabi are teeming with marine life, from an almost bewildering array of fish, to the dugong (sea cow), dolphins, sea turtles and coral reefs.

Marine leisure is the latest in a string of world-class sporting initiatives undertaken by Abu Dhabi. Already heavily involved in the World Rally Championship with its BP-Ford Team Abu Dhabi, the Emirate will shortly be staging its first Formula One Race in November 2009; the annual Red Bull Air Race draws a global audience, as does the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge endurance race; and the successful bid to host the 2009/2010 FIFA Club World Cup will additionally bring a global spotlight on Soccer to the region for the first time.

A number of world-leading marinas have been planned throughout the emirate. Destinations within destinations, these marinas will be lively, compelling environments where residents and visitors mingle in boardwalk café and restaurants, where chandlery shops will service crew needs, where hotel guests will soak up the atmosphere and magnificent views of the sparking Gulf waters and where sunsets will be marvelled and appreciated in time-honoured style. The inaugural Abu Dhabi Yacht Show will also take place in March 2009, helping to position Abu Dhabi as a truly international yachting destination.

There are also plans to build a maritime museum, designed by no less an authority than Japan’s celebrated architect Tado Ando, for the Cultural District of Saadiyat Island. The museum will commemorate the emirate’s seafaring past, including the building of the Arabian dhow (trading vessel), the hardiness of the pearl divers of yesteryear, and the magnificent dhow sailing competitions. For centuries, seafarers tested their skills along Abu Dhabi’s varied coastline, a tradition which continues to this day with the enduring, stately sight of the dhow’s huge billowing sails attracting a strong shoreline following.

KaliBee is an innovative company dedicated to sailing performance. One of its products, TCEvent, is a smart solution to providing value added communication to sailing events.

TCEvent is a live tracking solution and a way to turn sailing events into a sailing stadium! The organisation’s sponsors are cleverly displayed through several 3D options. Sponsors of sailing teams can also add their own graphic elements. Even when the boats are far from shore, all sponsors are viewable. TCEvent has been designed to offer a communication providing added value to sponsors.

The TCEvent product offers a 3D broadcasting ability which is ideal for tv screens and also giant screens. Sailing is a complex sport and the appeal to spectator’s can reduce when no explanation is provided. The producers or commentators need tools to explain easily what happens on the water. For example, TCEvent is able to produce stats or ranking lists to focus attention and to feed a sailing consultant comment. TCEvent is an ideal compliment to any sailing event.
