WHICH WORLD WONDER WOULD YOU PREFER TO EXPLORE?

Carlos Magras, 3B.

THE GRAND CANYON

There are a lot of wonders, some made by the nature, and other made by the humans. But only a few wonders are the best. And it was difficult to try, but I think that one of those is the Grand Canyon.

WHAT IS IT?

It's a very big, deep canyon, situated in the north of Arizona, United States of America. Its about 446km long (like from Madrid to Vigo), and between 6 and 29 km wide. In some places the Grand Canyon is more than 1.600 metres deep. And, in the bottom, there's the Colorado River.

WHY I'D LIKE TO EXPLORE IT?

So I'd like to explore the Grand Canyon, because I think it's a spectacular natural wonder. First, it has very good views. From the top of the canyon you can't see all the canyon, but the best is to see down to the bottom, where the river flows.

WHY I'D LIKE TO EXPLORE IT?

Second, it's singular because of the process that made it, when any continent was where they are today. It was made under the sea, and, milions of years ago, an earth movement pushed it up out of the sea. But then it was a flat piece of land. The Colorado river eroded it, and made it deep. And that river is still making the canyon more deep day by day.

WHY I'D LIKE TO EXPLORE IT?

And there's one more reason to visit the wonder: the special colour of its tall sides. They are red, brown and orange because it has different layers and different types of stones. It's a very strange feature that was made in the formation process of the Grand Canyon.

So I think all this reasons make the Grand Canyon one of the best wonders over the surface of the Earth.
