MAKE YOURSELF AT HOMEEF Accommodation. When lessons are over for the day, it’s important for you to be able to relax in comfort and safety. We offer two distinct ways for you to feel com-pletely at home while you’re abroad...

The total cultural experienceExperience maximum cultural exchange by living in a private home with native speakers. You will gain insight into local culture, pick up expressions and slang with greater ease, and return home with a more authentic accent. All Homestay hosts are carefully interviewed by experienced EF staff,

and then visited to ensure EF’s exacting standards for quality and comfort. Many hosts have been welcoming students for years, so they know exactly how to make you feel at home.Available in: See individual destination pages.

Join an international student communityEF Residences are designed to enhance the experience of studying a language. Our junior residences are comfortable, secure and conveniently located to your course center. There’s also an EF Residence Director and EF staff on-site around the clock to provide security,

support and advice. For 2014 we’ve introduced EF Camps, where students can learn a language as they enhance their skills in a chosen talent; including sports, fashion, art and performance.Available in: See individual destination pages.

EF HOMESTAY EF RESIDENCE & CAMPS

TOTAL IMMERSION

You learn the language non-stop: in class, at a café, or with

friends. It’s a fact: using the language in real-life situa-

tions helps you become fluent, faster.

SECURITY EF Leaders, during group

travel, are there to support and guide you every step of the way.

They are selected for their enthusiasm, dedication, and

experience.

Ages 13-15Students gain independence by navigating foreign airports and public transportation. Individual travelers are met in their destination city and supervised during their course by EF Leaders who work around the clock to ensure a

secure and structured environ-ment for students. For your convenience, we are happy to book return flights. Be sure to ask us about travel and medi-cal insurance options through Erika Insurance.

INDEPENDENT OR GROUP TRAVELIndividual travel or in a group. For most students, an EF Junior course is their first opportunity to travel abroad without the support of parents by their side. Ensure their comfort – whether they’re traveling independently or in an escorted group.

Ages 13-15An experienced EF Leader meets you at the airport in your country, travels with you to your host city and organizes your transfer from the airport to your EF school. Your leader helps you settle in, introduces you to your teachers and

classmates, then stays with your group for the entire trip. After your course, your leader assists you with your airport transfer and flight home. (Return flights and ground transportation included).

Parent/s or legal guardian-/s of students under the age of majority traveling with EF give their consent for the student to use the My EF™ web service.

Course LevelsFor ages 13-16, we provide the EF Level Placement Test, a few weeks before you leave for your course (not available for students on the EF Junior Camps). You will take the EF Level Placement Test online in My EF™ to assess your language level and ability. The results will be sent to your EF International Language Center. On arrival, you will be placed in the correct level at which you should begin your studies. When an EF International Language Center has a beginners’ group of less than five students, EF reserves the right to reduce the number of lessons per week.

Class Schedules & Duration of LessonsEF language lessons have a duration of 40 minutes, except where stated otherwise on individual destination pages.

Classes are offered at all EF centers worldwide in a block schedule format on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00. In some centers, classes may take place on the weekends. For students in EF Junior Camps, there are no classes on arrival and departure days.

Public HolidaysIn the event of a Public Holiday in the host country, the EF International

Language Center will be closed. Classes missed for Public Holidays will not be made up at a later date.

Travel and Medical InsuranceAll students are required to have medical and accident insurance. We have negotiated tailor-made coverage for EF students with an international company expert in travel insurance - Erika Insurance Ltd. We strongly recommend this policy as it protects the student against expenses incurred through accident or illness, and provides coverage for loss or theft of baggage and personal effects. It also provides coverage against interruption of the student’s EF course due to illness and includes Liability and Legal coverage. The cost of this insurance is $79 for the first two weeks, then $30 for each additional week. If the student does not wish to take this policy, they will need to provide EF with a copy in English of the alternative insurance policy they have taken out individually.

Cancellations and Refund PolicyAll cancellations and terminations must be made in writing to the nearest EF office, EF local representative or EF Center Director. In all cases the Enrollment Fee, the Courier Fee and the Cancellation Protection Fee are non-refundable.

Cancellations The Course Fee comprises two elements: Tuition Fee (40%) and the Student Services and Accommodation Fee (60%). The Tuition Fee is fully refundable if the student cancels more than 14 days prior to the course start date. Additional refunds will be made from the Student Services and Accommodation Fee as follows:- If the student cancels 45 days or more before the start of the course the student will receive a full refund, except for the Enrollment Fee and Cancellation Protection Fee.- If the student cancels less than 45 days prior to departure, EF will retain 40% of the Student Services and Accommodation Fee (max. $500 for USA centers, for all other centers maximum $1000) to cover the cost of pre-paid accommodation and services.

For destinations in the United States:Same Day Cancellation Prior to the Start of Class: If an applicant accepted by EF enters the United States on an I-20 obtained through EF and subsequently cancels prior to the start of scheduled classes or never attends class, EF may retain:

For a program of less than 12 weeks: all the tuition charges for up to four weeks, actual housing costs incurred by EF, and a maximum total of $500 for non-refundable charges including any application/registration fees, courier fees, travel/cancellation insurance, and the housing administration fee.

Refunds are made by the EF office or representative where the course fees were paid.

For destinations in the UK, Malta, Singapore, France and Spain: If a student withdraws from their course after arrival at the center, they must give their EF School Director at least four (4) weeks advance notice. They will receive a full refund for all remaining weeks after the four-week notice period.

Cancellation must be given in writing at their local EF office no later than the course start date. A doctor’s documentation must be provided within ten days of the claim.

(This does not apply to students who are extending their course.) If a student changes the booking to another destination where fees are lower, the difference in fees between the destinations will not be refunded.

Protection for Our CustomersIn order to ensure the well being of our students, EF has established a Code of Conduct, which all students are expected to follow.

Any student claims of course dissatisfaction should be reported to EF destination staff during their period of stay. If these complaints are not satisfied, they should be reported within 30 days after course completion at the student’s local EF office.

LiabilityEF will not be liable in any way to the student in the event of any service, contracted to be supplied by EF, becoming impossible to supply by reason of industrial dispute or other cause outside the control of EF. Enrollment Terms & Conditions 2013 - 2014

Page 14: World Wide English ILS Junior Brochure 2013

EF International Language Centres provide language training. We provide Junior courses for minors, who generally enroll on an individual basis.

Students travel either independently or in groups to the school and live in home stay or student residence accommodation selected and arranged by

EF staff.

EF also sets curfew times of 22:00 every day for all its junior students irrespective of age. Along with this, every school has a set of Guidelines and

Information including rules and regulations which are given to the student on the first day of school. To help ensure the safety and well-being of our

customers EF requests all students to carefully read and follow these regulations. In the case where students do not follow these, a student’s program

may be terminated and the student sent home immediately.

EF also provides a schedule of activities for students to attend in their free time. These activities are considered part of the program and like the class-

es we provide, they are considered compulsory. Since all meals are also provided by EF students are expected to attend these too.

Please also note that by signing this document you are agreeing to allow an EF staff member or host family to authorize treatments and/or medical aid

in the case of an emergency.

A residence deposit fee maybe required upon check in. For UK destinations an amount of £100 is required, for US and non-English destinations kindly

check the deposit amount with your local EF representative.
