Japan broke the Kellogg-Briand Pact which forbade the use of war to resolve issues. Japan acquired land to feed population. Portion of China under Japanese control. Hostilities rise between U.S. & Japan.

2. 1933 Adolf Hitler is named chancellor of

3. 1938

 

Britain’s policy of appeasement allows Hitler to take Czechoslovakia to avoid war. Hitler flexes muscles & Britain retreats in fear.

4. 1939  

Britain & France enter war. Hitler signs 10 year nonaggression pact with Stalin. Hitler utilizes the Blitzkrieg to acquire more land.

 

5. 1940  Germany defeats France and attacks Britain by air.

 

 6. 1941  Japan bombs Pearl Harbor

 

 

7. 1942   

 

8. 1944 

U.S. & BritishD-Day Invasion of France.

 

9. 1945  

 U.S. drops atomic bombs on Hiroshima & Nagasaki

 

 10. 1945  

 

Leaders meet at Yalta conference. Germany split into 4 zones (U.S., Britain, France, & Russia). War officially ends with the Nuremberg Trials.
