The Approach of the Green Star Hotel Initiative

..........it was actually the tourism sector itself that took action.

Keyplayers of the tourism industry joined forces within the framework of thedeveloPPP.de Programme of the BMZ with technical support of the GIZ

2007 the Green Star Hotel Initiative was started

by the end of 2013 the Green Star Hotel Initiative will be implemented on a

national level

The Green Star Hotel Initiative was founded in a participative and

interactive approach bringing experts and local actors to the same

table.

The Green Star Hotel Initiative

As the first initiative in the Middle East, theGreen Star Hotel Initiative has developed a

country-specific, environmentally friendly

label for hotels and resorts

National certification and capacity building

programme for the hotel industry in Egypt,highly accepted on both the national and

international level

a national initiative with internationalsupport and expertise

destinations in Egypt by motivating the hotel sector to

become active and move towards more sustainability
