We AreWe first walked into the former Nafziger building on September 19th, 2014. It was perfect! We thought we could just rip out the carpet and move right in. Funny thing is, the more time you have to plan, the more things you plan. Before you know it, it’s almost 1 year later and you are wondering if you are ever going to get to move in. We are excited, anxious, stressed and tired. We understand this will be a change. A change for us, a change for our loyal customers and a change for downtown Nampa. We are looking forward to being a part of the downtown community. A walkable downtown. A healthy downtown. If you haven’t been to downtown Nampa lately, we encourage you to not only visit our store, but make a day out of it. Have coffee or juice, shop, meet a friend for lunch or sit outside and unwind after a long day. Downtown Nampa is making it’s move to greatness and we are so excited to part of the revitalization.

YogA @ Home: Boost immunitY And detox tHe BodYThymus TapAs we transition into fall, I’d like to share an immune boosting exercise with you.

The Thymus gland produces killer T-cells which go in and fight disease and toxins working to form in our bodies. As we age, the thymus naturally begins to shrink and weaken. This exercise known as a thymus tap can boost your immunity by stimulating the thymus gland to produce more beneficial white blood cells.

This practice works best if done just before bed time as the thymus gland is most active shortly after going to bed.

Begin by finding a comfortable seated position. Make a relaxed fist with your right hand, keeping the thumb off of the fingers. Using the center portion of your four folded fingers you will begin to tap the center of your sternum, in a strong, soft, pattern.

Try to stay relaxed as you do this and do your best to keep the mind clear allowing yourself to turn the tapping into a meditative practice. Best results come

when you continue to tap for three to five minutes.

TwistsTwists are a great way for detoxing the body. There are so many different twists avaiable in yoga and they are all wonderful for the body, especially the lymphatic system which helps to flush toxins out of our system. You can do a variety of twists standing, kneeling, seated and reclined. There is no shortage of twists in yoga and I wouldn’t feel a practice was complete without some kind of twist in it.

Here is a simple twist to get you started. Sit in one of your dining room chairs, something that you can sit up tall in, with or without arms. Gently begin to twist your torso to the right, bringing your right arm to the back of the chair or it feels okay, taking the right arm all the way over to the back of the chair, low at the seat. The left arm comes to the right arm rest or right side seat of the chair. Keep the spine long by reaching the crown of your head towards the ceiling. Take a couple of deep breaths here and

feel your spine opening up. The legs continue to face forward in the chair. Then gently release the twist coming back to center. Take a deep breath in, as you exhale twist to the left side and find the position that feels most comfortable for your arms and helps you hold the twist. Again, stay for a couple deep breaths and release back to center.

When practicing twists it is ideal to twist to the right first and then the left. The reason for this is that it allows you to work with your digestive organs rather than against them. When practicing twists, be sure to drink a little extra water to help flush those freshly loosened toxins out of the body.

Today nearly two-thirds of Americans own a smartphone, and 19% of Americans rely to some degree on a smartphone for accessing online services and information and for staying connected to the world around them — either because they lack broadband at home, or because they have few options for online access other than their cell phone. But just simply having a smartphone doesn’t mean you have to be smart to work it, or even utilized all of its functions. But if you are like me and you want to enhance or simplify your life, there’s probably an app for that!

Recently Kris and I found ourselves bored with our daily yoga practice. We have over 80 sessions on our DVR of PBS Power Yoga Mind & Body with Adrienne Reed. But after two years, we were ready for a change. We decided to start doing yoga on our own, taking what we had learned from our DVR sessions and making up our own routines.

That’s when I thought, isn’t there an app for that? If you search the app store for

“Yoga”, you will find 4,327 results. Yikes! That’s where Google came in. I quickly ran a Google search for the BEST yoga app. On several blogs and pages, one app kept popping up, Yoga Studio. For only $3.99 this app is described as the #1 yoga app for iPhone and received the Best App Ever Award in 2013(sorry, this geek only speaks Apple, and maybe some Windows...if I have to). I was a bit skeptical, having purchased apps in the past that didn’t end up being all I wanted them to be. But have no fear, this app delivered! Complete with relaxing music and visual instructions, this app was everything it promised to be! If you are on the go, make this your go-to yoga app! ~ Allison Wear, WON Geek

Lion’s Mane…Besides being a good source of protein like other mushrooms, several studies suggest that the lion’s mane can benefit neural and mental

health. “I believe it to be the first ‘smart’ mushroom.”-Paul Stamet, Mycologist, Researcher, Author of 6 books on Fungi

The subject of recent studies, Lion’s Mane is renowned for providing support to the Brain and Nervous System.

• Promotes mental clarity, focus and memory by protecting the brain from a buildup of amyloid beta-a substance that forms the brain plaques associated with Alzheimer’s Disease.

• Provides Cerebral and Nervous System support: Studies have identified a NGF(Nerve Growth Factor) in Lions Mane, which promote nerve survival and proliferation.

• Optimizes Nervous and Immune System Health: In a 2011 study from Food & Function, tests on human cells revealed that Lion’s mane may help eradicate leukemia cells from the body.

• Supports Cognitive Function: A small study published in Drugs of the Future done by biochemist Hirokazu Kawagishi showed physical and cognitive improvements in patients with dementia after consuming Lion’s Mane daily for six months.

• Biomedical Research published a study in 2010 that demonstrated the potential Lion’s Mane has to reduce depression and anxiety.
