Learning Gets Shorter
• LET’S HERE FROM YOU – Who has used a “shortening” technique (such as video, quick guide, key learning brief, process document, etc) in WB – were you successful or not?
• Was there a learning curve?
• Did it matter where you posted and how you shared the item?
• Any costs associated with it? Length?
• Were you able to involve a recognized expert?
• How would you encourage your peers to develop and deliver them?
• Or, what would need to change to make it work in your community?

Types of Jumpstart
• Conflict
• Challenge

Conflict
• Use when you find that community members are not exchanging valuable information
• Which is the best irrigation system in dry regions, sprinkler or drip?
• Use a similiar technique when discussion is lagging
• Make an opinionated or controversial statement:
• There is no money to invest in sprinkler or drip irrigation in poorer countries. The only viable option is the creation of canals.

• Several discussions a month
• 20 people, 4 reactions (corrections or questions) & 2 co-creators (stories)

Challenge
Nothing worked until I posted an unusual photo with the challenge:
“Who wants to claim this father?”

How To Create Conflict
• LET’S HEAR FROM YOU –
• Share a statement
• Others suggest how to make it a ‘choose sides’ or ‘challenge’ question
• Will this produce constructive conflict?
• If not, how to re-write it?
