GO ZERO.What  have  we  gained  in  this  past  5  years?  “HIV  con)nues  to  be  a  major  global  public  health  issue,  having  claimed  more  than  34  million  lives  so  far.  In  2014  alone,  1.2    million  people  died  from  HIV-‐related  causes  globally  and  there  were  approximately  36.9  million  people  living  with  HIV.  Unfortunately,  by  the  end  of  2014,  there  are  s)ll  2.0  million  new  infections  globally.  It  is  es)mated  that  currently  only  51%  of  people  with  HIV  know  their  status.  In  2014,  14.9  million  people  living  with  HIV  were  receiving  an)retroviral  therapy  (ART)  globally,  which  is  only  represent  40%    of  people  living  with  HIV  worldwide.”

The  theme  chosen  for  World  AIDS  Day  2011  un)l  2015  is  “GeVng  to  Zero:  Zero  New  HIV  Infec)ons,  Zero  Discrimina)on,  Zero  AIDS-‐related  Deaths”  what  have  we  gain  these  5  years?  What  have  we  done  and  what  we  haven’t  done?  New  discoveries  and  achievements  have  been  made  through  these  years.  But  our  war  against  HIV/AIDS  hasn’t  ended.  The  campaign  against  disinforma)on,  discrimina)on,  and  people’s  ignorant  are  definitely  are  s)ll  an  essen)al  part  of  our  war  against  HIV/AIDS.

What  can  we,  as  medical  students  of  Asia-‐Pacific,  do  to  contribute?  People  of  Tomorrow!  it  is  )me  to  wake  up,  stand  up,  and  speak  up.  This  is  the  first  academic  compe))on  of  this  term,  we  challenge  you  to  explore  the  issue  of  HIV/AIDS  in  your  country  and  bring  it  to  the  world.  Translate  your  knowledge  into  weapons  against  ignorance  and  misconcep)ons,  and  contribute  to  achieve  our  [Zero]  together.
