Art Hoppers

Fun story time with the Brewhouse story volunteers, a chance to meet other families and relax while your children make new friends. Come along in the morning to have fun together, get to know the theatre and explore our toy box.

This season includes THREE school holidays so we have exciting family workshops and activities to inspire your children during Easter, May Half Term and the long hot summer. We are thrilled to welcome Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Dance School to The Brewhouse for a week-long Swan Lake summer school; and for children who loved our Christmas show they can join us for a week in August for Up Staged - Musical Theatre Summer School, led by some familiar faces from our production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’; before a host of Amazing Animals arrive for our outdoor free shows and workshops this summer holiday so put every Thursday in your diaries now!

We are casting for young people (9 - 24 years) to take part in our professional Christmas production of The Railway Children for small named parts and ensemble roles (main characters will be played by professionals). Approximately 26 young actors will be given roles, forming two casts. Performers need to be strong, confident singers and actors, with good dance ability. Successful candidates will be in scenes throughout the show and play several different characters with speaking parts available for some young performers.

We are looking for natural performers and everyone will need to be able to hold a vocal harmony line musically. We encourage young people with a flare and passion for performing to audition, regardless of whether they have had any formal training or not.

Bumblebee Talk & Safari Sat 4 May |11am | £4Come and listen to Daisy Headley from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust present on the ‘Plight of the Bumblebee’. The talk will be followed by a bumblebee ‘safari’ where Daisy will lead people outside for a guided walk to look at different bumblebee species up close.

FIFTY BEES III: The Interconnectedness of All Things, 9 Mar – 5 May 2019. Textile Artist Lydia Needle sculpts fifty British Bees in wool and stitch to which fifty other artists create responses to the ecology and hidden worlds of each individual bee. See the exhibition, then join one of the bee inspired workshops and events below.

Grab your pencil and meet us at the bar for our once a month drawing social, where you can have a few relaxing drinks while getting creative and scribbling out some ideas.

This is a warm and friendly group for everyone who loves to sing. The group sings a wide variety of musical genres including classical, traditional folk, musical theatre, jazz, pop and gospel. No need to read music and no auditions!

A creative dance and movement class for those who wants to improve their fitness, strength and flexibility whilst having fun. Classes include warm-ups, creative improvisation and a chance to learn different dance techniques. Adaptations available for those who wish to stay seated.

Do you have an instrument stashed in the the shed? Come and join our concert orchestra for beginners and returners and rediscover the joy of playing! The ensemble plays a mixture of classical, popular, show and film music.

Find your own style and progress from simply copying to interpreting the subject. Working from various reference materials including photography and still life while also studying the great masters of the form.

Make a play in a day with Wassail Theatre Company. Inspired by our Salty Seas theme for half term the group will create their own wild story. A fun day for children and young people making new friends, improving performance skills and growing in confidence.

Plein Air Painting: The Majesty of Trees
