For a long time all kind of hydro-analysis was performed by model tests.Numerical modelling suffered from complex physics and insufficient accuracy.This lead to many tailor made solutions for “sub” problems.Even modern general purpose flow codes address marine problems with very particular approachesMany new Developments aim at use in Optimisation processes

• VIRTUE has delivered significant advances in terms of accuracy of CFD predictions in all areas addressed.
• This is a prerequisite for the application of CFD methods in automatic optimisations.
• VIRTUE will deliver a set of “Best Practice Guidelines” from all WPs.
• The VIP has been successfully applied to several applications and offers a large potential for future exploitation.
• The project partners aim at further developing and establishing this as a general CFD analysis platform.
• The “Virtual Towing Tank” will not come as a “Black box”.
