All of you are supervisors who are working in the ministry of education. You are from different regions in Oman.

WHY ?As supervisors in MOE, you need to learn how to design a survey to gather information that related to LEARNING PROCESS from teacher because you are the link between MOE and School.

Define the survey.
Definition of survey ( 5 min)
The supervisors will be given different type of data collection methods to
determine the survey and discusses the characteristic of the survey. ( 15 min)
Trainer will present the right definition
after the discussion.
8:20-9:00
Differentiate between survey
modes.
Four types of survey modes .
(10 min)
Divide supervisors to four groups and give them handout of the topic . Each group will present one type of survey
mode. ( 30 min)
Direct feedback will be given by trainer.
9:00-9:50
State the steps of creating
survey.
Survey general process (40

Learning by fun ( we will give each group colored papers . Each paper includes one
step. The group should arrange it correctly.) (10 min)

There are four modes of survey data collection that are commonly used:
• Face-to-face surveys
• Telephone surveys
• Self-administered paper and pencil surveys
• Self-administered computer surveys (typically online)

• Define the research question.
• Specifying the population of interest.
• Identify a sample frame.
• Choose a data collection mode.
• Design and pre-test questionnaires.
• Select a representative sample.
• Recruit and measure the sample respondents.
• Code and edit the unadjusted data and the conduct post hoc data adjustments.

• Write questions that are simple and to the point.
• Use words with clear meanings. ( Use understandable words)
• Limit the number of ranking options.
• In a multiple choice question, cover all options without overlapping.
• Avoid double-barreled questions.
• Offer an “out” for questions that don’t apply.
• Avoid offering too few or too many options.
