FacultyLucy Shaw is an active performer, Suzuki teacher and clinician currently based in the Seattle, WA area. A native of Nova Scotia, Canada, she received her Bachelor degree at the S.C. Eckhardt-Gramatte Conservatory of Music at Brandon University in Manitoba, Canada, and her Master of Music in Violin Performance at The Sheperd School of Music. Ms. Shaw currently maintains a private studio, and directs the State Suzuki Festival and is Vice President of the Suzuki Association of

Dr. Jeremy Dittus is the founder and director of the Dalcroze School of the Rockies in Denver, Colorado. In 2010 Dr. Dittus earned the Diplome Superieur from L'Institut Jacques-Dalcroze in Switzerland. He completed adoctorate of musical arts in piano performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has presented Dalcroze workshops at home and abroad. He serves on the state board for the Colorado Federation of Music Clubs and functions as the Vice President of the Dalcroze Society of America.

Avi Friedlander is Founder and director of the Suzuki Talent Education Program of Birmingham and teaches at the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham. Mr. Friedlander received his Master's and Bachelor's of Music Performance degrees from The University of Michigan. He pursued his professional studies degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has performed and recorded music from classical to rock and currently performs with the String Theory Birmingham and writes his own arrangements for solo cello of rock tunes from Jimi Hendrix to Pearl Jam. Melissa Solomon de Freitas wasBorn in Johannesburg, South Africa, Melissa came from a family of professional musicians and developed an early passion for music. She immigrated to the United States after receiving a full merit scholarship for study at Interlochen Arts Academy. She continued her studies with internationally renowned cellistTimothy Eddy at the Juiilliard School in NYC. She gained her Suzuki training at the Colorado Suzuki Institute and the Chicago Suzuki Institute. Ms. Solomon has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Africa. She currently resides in Austin, Texas.Suzuki Institute and the Chicago Suzuki Institute. Ms. Solomon has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Africa. Rosalie Gilbert is an active professional harpist, with over two decades of experience in solo, ensemble, and freelance performance. Rosalie pursued a Bachelor of Music degree in harp performance at The Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Master of Music degree from The University of Colorado in Boulder. Her teachers have included notable harpists Yolanda Kondonassis, Jeanne Chalifoux, Alice Chalifoux, and Paula Page.

Charles Krigbaum is the Founder and Director of the North Texas School of Talent Education, a private Suzuki violin and viola program located in Plano, TX. He is a Teacher Trainer for the SAA, and has proudly served on the Board of Directors for the North Texas Suzuki Association in many roles. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the Schwob School of Music where he studied viola with Manuel Diaz, He received his Master of Music degree, summa cum laude, at the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied viola as a student of Catherine Forbes and studied early childhood music education and music learning theory with Dr. Diane Lange. Charles has also studied violin pedagogy at Indiana University with Mimi Zweig.

Oscar Soler studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music with violinist and pedagogue Paul Kantor. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree this in 2007 and Master of Music degree in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy in 2009. He has also studied with violinists Edward Dusinberre from the Takács Quartet, and Lina Bahn. He was appointed to the faculty at Aber Suzuki Center at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in the fall of 2011. He has been a guest clinician in Suzuki workshops around the state of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. Mr. Soler is a native of Caracas, Venezuela.

Mimi Hsu received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Chinese Culture University in Taipei, Taiwan, where she majored in voice, with a minor in piano. She received certification in Dalcroze eurhythmics from the Dalcroze School of Music (New York), completed her license for Dalcroze eurhythmics from the Longy School (Cambridge, MA) and completed the certificate program in arts administration from the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies.Working with students ages 2-12, Mimi has taught eurhythmics, children’s choir and musicianship classes, as well as private piano lessons.

Julie Maura-Bickel teaches Suzuki Violin and directs the CSA touring ensemble, Vivaldi Strings. Mrs. Bickel has studied with Betty Monahan, Almita and Roland Vamos, Rachel Bartonine, Simin Gantra, Mathias Tacke, Brian Lewis and many other fine Suzuki teachers around the country. She has taught String Pedagogy at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, as well as at various institutes. Mrs. Bickel coordinated the Suzuki Youth Orchestras of the Americas for the 12th SAA Conference. At the13th SAA Conference in 2008, her tour group Vivaldi Strings was selected to perform for the International Ensembles Concert; and in 2012, they were selected by the Chinese Government to perform in Beijing and Tianjin, China. Julie is an avid quilter for Lutheran World Relief at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wheaton. She performs as a violinist in the Butterfield String Quartet, and loves spending time with her husband and two daughters exploring new adventures.

Josh Mills has been teaching since 2009. He teaches all guitar styles as well as ukulele. Due to this, he has a deepened understanding of music and performing guitar. Initially a self-taught electric and acoustic guitarist, he has devoted his time to learning several styles of music. Those include jazz, blues, rock, metal, and classical. Josh incorporates all of these styles into his teaching. In 2013, Josh graduated from UTSA with a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance. In 2016, Mr. Mills graduated with a Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from Southern Methodist University.
