Worksheet 3: mind mapping example
The example on Worksheet 2 shows that one of the occasions that geography student Sarah was in ‘flow’ was when she was on a field trip in North Wales. So, she decided to mind map ‘being outdoors’. She went off on a few tangents that led nowhere but did pick out a few things to take forward into the next task. She wondered if maybe teaching or being a countryside ranger would be avenues to pursue – neither of which she’d considered before.

Worksheet 5: Prioritising grid
Instructions:
1. List your top 10 career choices in the Section A column – in any order 2. Now compare each career choice against the others and circle which career choice you
prefer in the small boxes at the side of the career choice in Section B. So, if you look at choice 3, for example, there are two boxes to the left. In the first box are the numbers 1 and 3 – compare choice 1 and 3 and circle the one you prefer in the first box. In the second box compare choices 2 and 3 and circle the one you prefer in the next box.
3. In Section C total up how many times you circled each career choice in Section B. Then, in the bottom row, rank each choice based on its score above.
4. Transfer your career choices in the correct order into Section D.
Example: Geography student, Sarah’s, career choices
If you end up with several of the same scores – here there are two 5s, 8s, 3s and 2s - use ¼ and ½ to distinguish between them.
