Works Cited

Getting it right!

• Any source that you cite or make reference to in the writing of your report, must be included on your works cited page. Also, all sources listed on this page had better be cited somewhere in the paper, I will be checking!

• FYI – A Works Cited page lists all sources you mention in your paper, a bibliography lists all sources you looked at, even if you didn’t use them in your paper.

Alphabetic Order

• Always list your entries in alphabetic order.

• Organize by last name.

• If there is no author listed, use the first word in the entry.

Indent!

• Do not indent the first line of each entry.

• Indent every line of each entry after the first line.

• Do not do

waterfall

indenting.

Watch your formatting!

• Remember those periods.

• “Articles,” Books

• For internet sites, do not forget the date posted and the date accessed.

Page Layout

• At the top right hand corner of the page you should have your last name and the page number.

• Do not enlarge the words Works Cited. I know it makes it prettier, but according to MLA it is wrong.

• Double space the entire page.• Do not put spaces between the entries

(other than the ones placed there by double spacing).

If you need help. . .

• Try checking the following sites. It is not a good idea to rely on them entirely as they have been known to make some mistakes, but if you want to double check yourself, or if you need a guiding hand, these sites can help, just check them against the MLA style notes we took earlier, especially in regards to correct punctuation!
