As a federally certified, not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO), we work with donors, donor families, hospitals and other professional partners to extend legacies, provide hope and give life. Together with our partners, we are dedicated to increasing awareness and education about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation.

As a Workplace Partner, you can help educate your employees and other members of the community about the lifesaving gift of donation, and provide more opportunities for individuals to join the state donor registry. Know the Factsof Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation

Anyone can register to be an organ, eye and tissue donor, regardless of age, race or medical history.

An individual’s donation status does not affect medical care. The first priority of medical professionals is to save lives.

Organ, eye and tissue donation does not become an option until death has been declared.

All major religions in the United States support donation and view it as a final act of love and generosity.

There is no cost to the donor or their family for organ, eye or tissue donation.

An open casket funeral is possible for organ, eye, and tissue donors.

The donor and family are treated with the utmost care, respect, and dignity throughout the donation process.

A living donor can also save lives by donating a kidney or a part of the liver, intestine, lung, or pancreas.

The first-person authorization registry upholds an individual’s right to make his or her decision regarding organ and tissue donation, and no one may overturn another individual’s decision.

Partnership Testimonials“I first became involved with Midwest Transplant Network through teaching the PLTW Medical Interventions course. This course has a unit that studies kidney failure and organ transplant. I contacted MTN and the education coordinator came to present to my class. Every year for 9 years someone has faithfully come to Summit Tech to present on this very important topic. One year we were even able to tour the lab at MTN. The education that my 16 and 17 year old students has received is invaluable.”

“Although I’ve been a registered donor for years, I personally didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about organ donation until the need for one impacted a very close friend and colleague. MTN was instrumental in finding the perfect heart for our friend, and saved his life. Because of the work they do, we have invited MTN to speak to various groups and participated in the Legacy Walk to help raise awareness on such a life-impacting issue. The Kansas City Business Center of The Principal is honored to be a Workplace Partner For Life!”
