Three main things you should consider to sucessin the designing of a programme:
How to give the programme a unifiying threadand identifiable purpose .
Whta topics to include and what to includeunder any particular topic.
How frequent and how long language lessonshould be if it is left to you.
A programme should clearly has purpose and coherence.
Deciding what to include
Stage 1
-Teacher is going to think about what thestudents need to learn.
-
-teacher can build up a class on the board.
In deciding the time allocation for language teaching, teachers need to know the relative merits of the variouspossible patterns of work:
More than an hour of high density language work at stretch is probably too much for most teachers and theirclasses.
Less than half an hour is very insubstantial and fragmented. This sets the parameters.
By having four half hours, you can spread thecontact through the week.
The advantages of this are: The children•Do not lose sight of the language sessions.•Have more chance of remembering work.
The disadvantages are:•Take more total preparation.•Very demanding for both teacher and the class.
The advantages of two longer lessons are:•It is easier to undertake sustain work on a topicwithout the thread being broken.•You don´t have to spend so much time recappingat the beggining of each lesson.
The disadvantages of longer lessons are usuallyseen to be:•They are more likely to present behaviour problems.•They are more deifficult for the inexperiencedlanguage teacher initially.
