Working With Different Colors for One NDU

ABOUT US

About us:

Our list is composed of numerous NDU students with several political orientations, some

of which do not have any political background that will work hand in hand to improve

NDU as an establishment.

Our candidates have their minds set, goals straight, and objectives clear. They are not

running for elections to represent a certain political orientation. They are here to work

firsthand on attaining the trust of the entire Student body.

Many sleepless nights have passed preparing for this election, this interactive race

towards a better NDU, a stronger NDU. We would be lying if we said that this increase

in efforts is not because of the upcoming elections. This election is a crossroad where our

clubs’ interests meet with student interest. Our interest is winning this race, and in order

to win, we must abide by the recognized yet unwritten law, which is gaining the students’

trust - a difficult task to be achieved by any man alone.

But these candidates coordinated their efforts homogenously to attain this valuable trust,

a trust, which they promise will not betray. We are not agents of false propagandas,

strategic lies, and groundless accusations. We are students; students that fight for your

rights, values, and beliefs. You can rely on us to let your voice be heard throughout this

institution.

We do have the guts to stand up against all odds and claim what we

believe is right, just, and honorable.

You don’t need the guts to vote for us, just faith…

SERVICES AND EVENTS

Services and Events:

As NDU students, we continuously strive to improve the extracurricular and intellectual

atmosphere on campus. This arises from our belief that these extracurricular and

intellectual activities play a complementary role to the academic life offered by NDU.

It is our duty and responsibility to find the time and space for these life-enriching

activities.

The following are of our main priorities:

• Providing academic services and on-campus help for our students.

• Organizing economical, social, cultural, and academic seminars.

• Organizing a successful NDU fair.

• Helping the environment and our suffering nature.

• Encouraging and working for the realization of all sorts of artistic activities from

musical events to theater plays.

• Organizing a career fair that brings to NDU all the major local and international

corporations.

• Organize a book exchange in which students trade their old books they used in

early courses with books for their present courses.

We are able to provide these activities because we are a part of the student body and we

can relate to needs and problems to each student.

If you think that we are missing an issue you feel is important, please do not hesitate to

contact us with your comments and suggestions.

ISSUES / SOLUTIONS

Issues / Solutions:

• Parking Lots: NDU students are forced to park far from the main gate due to the limited

parking space available on campus and due to the increase in the number of NDU

students. As a result, we will work to:

1. Provide a rain shelter stretching from the free parking to the main entrance along the

sidewalk.

2. Improve the free parking current conditions; laying asphalt on the road…

• University Access: Students are not allowed to enter or stay on campus beyond 10 PM,

which creates a huge inconvenience for students who are in need of classroom or lab

access. As a result, we will work to make the NDU campus accessible 24/7 for any

student holding a valid university ID.

• Timing of Classes: A better and more convenient allocation of time for the scheduling

of courses. Some courses are only available after 6 pm and this can seriously paralyze

students’ time management.

• Financial Aid: Due to the continuous increase in the tuition fees, coinciding with a

deteriorating economical situation, NDU students are finding major difficulties in

funding their academic endeavors. As a result we will work to:

1. Call for a larger financial aid budget by the NDU administration.

2. Organize fund raising events.

3. Increase the amount of money paid per hour for work-study students.

4. Eliminate all tuition fees for registered credits above the 12-credit semester load.

• Athletic Students: We will work with the sports office to increase the financial budget

set for needy athletic students, and supporting them in all activities.

• Business Office: In coordination with the Business office, we will work to:

1. Reduce the late registration fees - at least for financial aid students.

2. Reduce the fees charged for petitions of changing majors from one faculty to another.

ISSUES / SOLUTIONS

• Overloaded Classes: A large number of classes in the university register more than 35

students, which makes it difficult for students to grasp the material.

As a result we will work to:

1. Limit the class capacity to 30 students per class and open more sections when needed.

• Course Availability: Most of the major courses at NDU are available either during the

fall or spring semester (a very scarce number of major courses are available during any

of the summer modules), which causes the alteration of students’ academic catalog.

As a result, we will work to:

1. Improve the availability of courses throughout the academic year by making major

courses available every semester.

• Cafeteria and Catering: Due to the increase in the number of students, the cafeteria has

become highly overcrowded, noisy, and uncomfortable.

Also, the catering services require tremendous improvements. We will work to:

1. Enhance the seating systems.

2. Improve the heating system during winter.

3. Reduce prices of cafeteria menus

4. Improve quality of offered menu items

• Malik’s Bookshop: A visit to the bookshop is proving more and more expensive for

students, not to mention the extreme overcrowding of students within the tight book

shop. As a result, we will work to:

1. Negotiate better pricing of products, at least the basic items such as books, pens, etc.

2. Request physical expansion for reducing student discomfort and overcrowding.

ISSUES / SOLUTIONS

• Create a photocopy center with low cost on students.

• Library Services: Students are not benefiting from all library services. We will work to:

1. Extend the closing time at least during exams.

2. Increase the book collection present on campus.

3. Supply Printers and Scanners inside the library.

• Reading period: We will work to increase the reading period for around a week.

In addition to the problems all NDU students face, we will also work on pinpointing

problems specific to each faculty and finding feasible solutions for each.

Last but not least, we promise to provide fellow students with regular reports on ongoing

achievements and detailed explanations of any failed objective.
