ON HAPPY 150 BIRTHDAY, TH On July 1 st , Canadians will celebrate something special: Canada’s 150 th birthday! The festivities will take place from St John’s to Victoria, from Iqaluit to Toronto, and all parts in between. As we celebrate Canada’s 150 th birthday, OUR day, we celebrate our many past accomplishments, our shared moments, the events that shaped us, and the ties that bind us. In Canada, we know that diversity is our strength, and we know – in our own uniquely Canadian way – that better is always possible. There is another important milestone that we are celebrating this year: the 35 th anniversary of the Canadian Charter of Right and Freedoms. The Charter is a statement that unifies Canadians around a set of principles. It embodies those rights we hold most dear in a free and democratic society, including freedom of expression, freedom of religion, equal protection under the law, and the right to use either of Canada’s official languages. Like any living thing, our Charter breathes, grows and adapts. We will continue to grow as a country and we are made stronger by our respect for human rights, at home and abroad. This Canada Day, let’s celebrate how far we have come together and how far we can still go as a country. Together we will continue to strengthen our communities, share our stories, and welcome new Canadians with stories of their own. This year especially, Canadians are graciously playing host to families and travelers from near and far, who have come to explore Canada and celebrate with us. Canada’s tourism sector is an integral part of the economy. It supports close to 1.7 million jobs in rural areas, small towns, and cities, from coast to coast to coast. Canadian tourism is booming. Last year was the best year for Canadian tourism in over a decade. This year, we expect it to be even higher. And as we get ready for 2018, the Canada-China Year of Tourism, our reputation is only going to grow.

LE Le 1er juillet, les Canadiens célébreront un événement spécial : le 150e anniversaire du Canada! Les festivités auront lieu de St John's à Victoria, d'Iqaluit à Toronto, et partout ailleurs dans le pays. En célébrant le 150e anniversaire du Canada – NOTRE anniversaire – nous soulignons aussi nos nombreux accomplissements, nos moments partagés, les événements qui nous ont marqués et les liens qui nous unissent. Au Canada, nous savons que la diversité est notre force, tout comme nous, les Canadiens, savons qu’il est toujours possible de faire mieux.
Nous célébrons aussi un autre jalon important cette année : le 35e anniversaire de la Charte canadienne des droits et libertés.
La Charte est une déclaration qui rassemble les Canadiens autour de certains principes. Elle incarne les droits qui nous tiennent le plus à cœur dans une société libre et démocratique, comme la liberté d'expression, la liberté de religion, une protection égale en vertu de la loi et le droit d'utiliser l'une ou l'autre des langues officielles du Canada. Comme tout être vivant, notre Charte respire, se développe et s'adapte. En tant que pays, nous continuerons de nous développer et de tirer notre force de notre respect des droits de la personne, ici comme à l'étranger.
En cette fête du Canada, montrons à quel point nous sommes unis et jusqu’où nous pouvons encore aller en tant que pays. Ensemble, nous continuerons à renforcer nos collectivités, à partager le récit de notre expérience et à accueillir les nouveaux Canadiens qui ont une expérience bien à eux.

Le Canada a été nommé la meilleure destination à visiter en 2017 par Lonely Planet - et en célébrant le Canada 150, il est facile de comprendre pourquoi! Cette année en particulier, les Canadiens accueillent chaleureusement les familles et les voyageurs qui viennent, de près ou de loin, explorer le Canada et célébrer avec nous. Le secteur du tourisme au Canada fait partie intégrante de l'économie. Il soutient près de 1,7 million d'emplois dans les zones rurales, dans les petites villes et dans les villes, d'un océan à un autre. Le tourisme au Canada est en plein essor. L'année dernière a été la meilleure saison pour l'industrie touristique canadienne en plus d'une décennie. Cette année, nous nous attendons à ce que le nombre de visiteurs soit encore plus grand. Et alors que nous nous préparons pour 2018, l'Année du tourisme Canada-Chine, notre réputation ne fera que croître.
