SHAUN OF THE DEADOne of the latest films made by this film company is Shaun Of The Dead. It is “An everyday tale of life, love and the living dead which centres on a group of friends who encounter a literal night from hell at their local pub, resulting in a zombie holocaust.”

The film was a very big success due to the bold British-ness which both the American and British audiences love. It was voted the 25th best comedy of all time, with references to Queen, British foods, American horrors and the whole film is a spoof of ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ whish is an American horror film. So the audiences of British and American come together as they want to see what they have done to make it a comedy, and the British audience is drawn to it because of the great cast of Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Bill Nigh etc. Who are all British actors.

BILLY ELLIOT“It's 1984 - Times are hard for young Billy Elliot. His family are embroiled in the miners' strike and Billy is desperate to be a dancer. He has to overcome his father's opposition to his dream and try to win a place at the prestigious Royal Ballet School.”

Billy Elliot is a big success due to the fact it is a real story based on the dancer, Billy Elliot. It attracts both British and American audiences because people all over the world know Billy Elliot as he is one of the most famous ballerinas of his time, and the British actors such as Julie Walters make the film thrive. It was nominated for three Oscars

SID AND NANCY“It is based on the true story of Sid Vicious, guitarist for punk rock band the 'Sex Pistols', and his tempestuous relationship with his American girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. This film was produced by Eric Fellner at Initial Pictures Ltd.”

This film isn’t very successful (compared to the other films we looked at by Working Titles) as it was about the rock band ‘The Sex Pistols’ who are famous all over the world which captures audiences from everywhere. This was before the partnering of Universal in America, one of the reasons for this partnership could be because the film didn’t make that much money and was only shown in 43 cinemas. But the film had the ability to be big in America, which is possibly what Universal took into consideration when thinking about partnering up
