The ESPON 2013 Programme
Role in Structural Funds 2007-2013:– Support EU Cohesion Policy development with pan-
European, comparable facts and evidence on Territorial Structures, Trends, Perspectives and Policy Impacts
– Focus on European Regions and Cities, and revealing territorial capital, potentials and challenges.
Budget 2007-13:– 47 mill Euro (ERDF 34 mill. Euro, plus 13 mill. Euro from
31 countries)

ESPON Tools• Contribute to the use of ESPON data and information and the

Existing ESPON ToolsESPON Database Webportal (Version June 2012)
The ESPON Database aims to contribute to a better understanding of the potentials and development perspectives of regions in the European context and globalised world.
The ESPON 2013 Database provides access to the following data categories: regional, local, urban, neighborhood (candidate countries), world, grid and historical data.
Currently the ESPON regional database contains app. 1250 socio-economic indicators, covering 60 countries in Europe and in the world. The temporal coverage of the data is from 1950 to 2050.
Most of the datasets and information produced are public available and free accessible.

ESPON HyperAtlas
Web application dealing with the multiscalar territorial analysis concept.
It is a territorial analysis tool for measuring inequalities. It allows to evaluate the situation of a region for a given indicator taking into various levels and scales of neighbourhood.
Target groups:
Practitioners at different geographical levels.
Researchers, students and general public interested in territorial development issues.

Simple web application to find, display, print and download maps resulted from ESPON projects.
The web application shall have a very user-friendly interface which allows users to find a desired map in an easy way.
Each map included in the online map finder shall comprise the map itself and a short description and reference on the origin of
the map.

Policy makers and practitioners at different geographical levels.
Researchers, students and general public interested in territorial development issues.
