Vision and architecture ofGEOSS Information System

• GEOSS is a global and flexible network of content providers: System of Systems

• GEOSS provides decision support to a wide diversity variety of users

• GEOSS Common Infrastructure (GCI) for discovery of resources: systems, data, services

• GEOSS Data Sharing Principles emphasizing access to full and open data (GEOSS DataCORE)

Aim of the meeting to better understand ("the key questions”)• How GEO/GEOSS should evolve to better serve the

diversity of “real” users?

• What changes in the “digital landscape” are relevant to GEO/GEOSS?

– Evaluation and inclusion of emerging technologies

• What processes should be put in place to ensure:

– Maintenance and evolution of Core GEOSS Components

– Clustering and interfacing with existing or new GEOSS Resources

– Engagement of user communities and new initiatives
