Between 2010 and 2025 44 % of public

sector employees will exit the job-

market; The equivalent of around 640,

000 people. The current influx rate of

professionals will account for 465, 000

That leaves about 175, 000 vacancies.

Occupations in demand:civil engineers/engineers,

economists,

PR officers/communication officers,

IT-specialists ,

lawyers,

lecturers/researchers at universities/colleges,

environmentalists,

Human resource specialists,

social scientists,

statistician/mathematicians

In the midst of an ongoing

recession, Sweden has recruited

around 1000 IT technicians from

India to Sweden.

The shortage of skilled labour is

already a reality.

• 2008/2009 there were 398 337

students in Sweden. 55 644 of these

were of foreign descent and 36 654

were foreign students.

• 2009/10 26 500 Swedes studied

abroad.

• In 2009 approximately 22 000

persons have applied and received

work permits in Sweden.

• SCB estimates that there is a need

for about 30 000 net

immigration/year.

• In September 2011 46 345

persons, with a minimum of 2-year

undergraduate education and born

outside of Sweden, registered at

Arbetsförmedling. In total there are

116 378 registered academics.
