Noor restaurant is inspired by the practise of islam. This six storage restaurant serves halal food, provides praying area and wudo areas for muslim. Being a muslim myself i encounter

many difficulties in finding halal food in Hong kong and ar-eas to pray so this project motivated me to design one islamic

restaurant. The name ‘noor’ meaning light in arabic is a symbol reprepsent-

ing god in islam. Light reflects power and life through the building. voids and natural sunlight are used to express this

meaning.

Concept: BendingIdea: studying the material wood and finding its accent. The sitting device

is completely handmade, using the tra-ditional method of bending a wood.

The process was made by first making a mould and bending a piece of wood, nail-ing to fix the shape and adding more lay-

ers to define the thickness. After the entire process of moulding,

nailing and sanding the curve is created.

studio WAveConcept: Sound waveIdea: to create a continuous “wave” in the space. Since sound wave always changing when their is a different tone in a song, i came up with the idea of ‘sound wave’ since space also changes with different functions as the amount of space used for different activities varies.

PlANet CorAl

Concept: CoralIdea: To create an art installation inspired by the placement of

the planets and coral reef. Taking the “highest” point (Space) and the “lowest” point(underwater) as an inspiration. We thought of

creating a new form when the impossible meets. The materials used for the project were air conditioner pipes, handmade ball (using a balloon and sticking papers on it, leaving it to dry overnight and pop the balloon to obtain the shape), yellow paint and then hang-ing them with fish line. This artistic installation was exhibited at

the Hong Kong Central Library.

This project was to get the audience aware of the environ-ment. Many people complain about the environment, com-

plaining how bad the air quality is or how water pollution or even global warming is affecting us but ignoring the

fact that we are the roots of the trouble. But did anyone of us actually listen to what the nature have to say? The

nature is also suffering from the nature itself. There-fore i created a set of speech bubbles where the trees

are expressing themselves, complaining of how they feel.

This exhibition was held at the Hong Kong Kowloon Park from late December 2010 to early February 2011

WAffer

Concept: WeavingIdea: To create a sitting device with only one piece of cardboard without using any stickingmaterials. The interlocking weave helps tighten the structure and keeps it tough. The waffer is viewed differently from every angle. The weave also helps by giving it a bouncy surface

Digital and interactive space. A very technical project where we had to dissect a toy and study its function and how it works. Then we had to apply what we learned from that toy to create

a 1:1 scale of an interactive work. We started off by studying a teddy bear and a ‘cat in a sack’ toy, we chose to develop the cat

and did a lot of tests and experiments to finally come with a sce-nario.

From the toys we took the function of touch and vibrate and de-veloped it into our design.

How it works: When one person sits on a chair the other chair would vibrate, when the light is switched on, the lamps starts

shaking, when u remove the glass/book from the table the table starts shaking hard and finally if you step on a certain spot on

the carpet the dog would start vibrating. The entire space seems “hunted” matching with the title the “living” room where every-

thing comes to life when touched.

Inspired by the local green booth hawkers in sheung wan region, the green frog is a

shelter that could extend and serve you at different situations. when packed it could be served as a sitting device, while extend you can either lye on it or bring along one

more person and chill out.
