Details are parts of a story. These details help you understand what the story is about.

On Saturday, Monica woke up early. She was hungry and her mom was still asleep. Monica decided to make her own breakfast. She opened the refrigerator and got out two tortillas, and two slices of cheese. She put each slice of cheese in the middle of the tortillas. She put them on a paper plate and put them in the microwave. She set the timer for thirty seconds. When she got her tortillas out, they tasted yummy! When mom got up, she asked Monica to make her some too.

Follow the directions below.

-circle the word that tells who the main character is-underline the word that tells what Monica made for breakfast-put a star beside the supplies she needed (3)-put a dotted line under the word that tells how the tortillas tasted

Now find the words from the story in the puzzle.

QuickTime™ and aTIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor

Adjectives are describing words. If I say "Tom is playing with a red ball." then the word red describes the ball. Write a poem by repeating the first line but each time adding another adjective.

For example. On my way to the zoo I saw a bear.It was a brown bear.It was an ugly brown bearIt was a wild, ugly, brown bearIt was an angry, wild, ugly, brown bearIt was a hungry, angry, wild, ugly, brown bearIt was an escaped, hungry, angry, wild, ugly, brown bearAnd it wanted to eat me!

Try to think of a funny last line. Try reading the poem out loud. You can make an even better poem by starting all the adjectives with the same letter! This is called alliteration. (Use a dictionary to help you find words.)Example: It was a big, bothersome, bouncy, beautiful, brown bearand its name was Bartholomew.
