Vibration is the response of a system to some internal or eternal stimulus or force applied to the system. 'i!ure 1 sho"s that the machines bearin! housin! can be modeled by a masssuspend ed by a coil sprin!. ntil a force $stimulus% is applied to this mass, it "ill remain suspended in a neutral or unstimulated position. /hen a force is applied to the mass $i.e., in an up"ard direction in this case% as sho"n in 'i!ure 0, the mass moves up"ard and the sprin! compresses $stimulated% by the force.
