Key points.Work placement is mandatory in NSW. Minimum 35 hours of work placement MUST be completed in year 11 & 12. In total 70 hours.

So How Does it Work?

Yes, there is some paperwork!

Your teacher will give you a StudentPlacement Record to be signed by your parents

You bring the paperwork back to school to be copied

You take a copy of the paperwork to your work placement

This covers your insurance


How does the employer help?

Provide a safe workplace environmentGive you opportunities to learn through observation and hands on experienceShare their knowledge and skills of the industry Give feedback on your efforts


What is your role as a student prior to work placement?

Phone your employer on the Tuesday prior or what is listed on your paperwork. Write a checklist of what to ask your employer.Introduce yourself and make sure you have the correct location of your work placement.

Another placement will be found for you if you are sick or have a genuine reason.

What if you need to cancel?Contact the Employer AND your Teacher, and we will find a solution for you.


What if?You do not feel safe at yourWork Placement?It is OK to say no to a job which you feel puts you in danger.Contact your parents and your teacher.


What if I dont turn up to my Work Placement ?You will be required to find your own work placement.

Your last employer probably wont want you back!


We want your feedback about your work placement


To ensure you and others gain a valuable work placement!


And when I begin my work placement.Why?The employer must sign it each day!You should also write what tasks you have completed each day.
