Words of Wisdom This spring, we launched a new resident program called Words of Wisdom. Created out of a desire to honor and learn from our residents, this program asks residents to answer questions related to their life experiences. Monthly topics, such as “Love,” paired with questions like “what is the secret to a long-lasting marriage?” give residents an opportunity to reflect on their many years of life and provide advice for younger generations.

Activity Directors at each community will host Words of Wisdom workshops each month so that residents have dedicated time to craft their responses to questions posed. Words of Wisdom will be shared at the community level and they may also be shared on community websites and Facebook pages.

In the last few months, this program has been met with enthusiasm. With over 100 submissions, we’ve enjoyed reading the Words of Wisdom our residents have submitted. The theme for May was “Seize the Day.” In June, we’ll ask for Words of Wisdom related to overcoming adversity. Please speak with the Activity Director at your community to learn more and contribute your own Words of Wisdom!

We are pleased to introduce our energetic concierge, Janae Berry! A native to California, Janae moved to Las Vegas two years ago. Janae consistently greets all of our guests and residents with a smile. When asked what drew her to work for Oakmont, Janae said she is passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors. In her free time, she spends time outdoors, explores old Las Vegas, and goes on weekend road trips. Her three year old brother, Isaac, loves to spend time with his big sister, and Janae likes to share her love of nature with him. Thank you for being such an important part of Oakmont of West Las Vegas, Janae!
