So you have a n assignment and your first draft of your writing. Most students are familiar with using the “spell check” feature, but it does so much more!

Step 1: (quick route) run a spell check on your writing. See if this window pops up after all words are spelled correctly.

No? Okay, so…In Office 2000+, you can go to the “Tools”taskbar and go underOptions to set up “Readability Statistics.”

In Office 2007, you go to “Review” and there you will seeThe ABC – check (spell check icon).The Readability Statistics will automatically show up after you have done a spell check.

If you have to enable it yourself…

Go under “options.”There you will see eleven tabs across the top. Open “Spelling & Gram”

Check off “Show Readability statistics”

Click the OK button.Now, after you do a spell check, the stats box will appear.
