The week saw students writing war poetry, performing scenes from Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful and taking part in a poppy hunt to learn more about the war. Thank you to all staff who came to support the Student Voice Fundraiser event on Friday 7th November. It  was truly a great success with over 100 students, parents, staff and members of the community attending the event. The very entertaining Fashion show auction led by Jake griffin Greer was filled with exciting bidding wars but equally important were the strong messages students were able to convey through powerful dance, poetry, film and presentation on issues they were passionate about. It really was a tremendous showcase of the weeks of  student’s hard work over the last term. Students demonstrated an array of

managerial skills from budgeting, managing teams, organising publicity  to producing an educational film , liaising with relevant members of staff and sorting logistics. We are so proud of the achievements they have made both in their own personal development as well as the wider community.

We are pleased to announce students raised an impressive total of £421. All the money raised will be going to NSPCC and Age UK.Thank you all so much for donating your clothes and cash and supporting student voice so far this year.

Year 10 GCSE performance

As part of the Year 10 students’ programme of study for GCSE Drama, students devised a performance based on the devastating case study of the volcanic eruption in Krakatoa, in 1883. This story has been used as a stimulus to explore the themes of fear and hope through different explorative strategies.

This was a great opportunity for our students as it was the first time they performed as a GCSE ensemble. The audience enjoyed their fantastic, thought-provoking performance.

£421will go to our

chosen charities

Calling all artists... why not enter the WinterFest Art Competition. Create a work of art based on the theme “Winter in the City”. There will be prizes for the most creative pieces.

Students will be participating in The Stevenson House Art Project during this academic year. This involves all year groups learning about the ‘Sick Children’s Charity’ to inform their design for a mural proposal - the best designs will be selected by the families connected with Stevenson House, and the design will become a reality once funding is raised by our students. Our objective is to include the whole school within the mural design, making the competition an integrated part of the Art Department’s scheme of work. Once the mural design has been selected then volunteers will be chosen to create the mural alongside producing a budget. A fundraising event will also need to be part of the process to ensure enough money is raised for the materials needed.
